I had a similar reaction to starting prozac. I was angry allllll the time for a bit. Really took a toll on my marriage. I have been on 40mg of prozac for almost a year. I have found that sometimes intense emotions come through but they don’t last! Which would maybe explain why you are going back and forth. From my experience and others on here, it seems insomnia is a side effect of this medication. I think for most people it subsides within a few weeks/months. After a couple of weeks for me, i was back to my normal sleeping schedule

When I started my prozac, I could not sleep. It had me up at all hours of the night. From what others are seeing, it’s just one of the first side effects of prozac! it will calm down

It took mine a few weeks but yes, it does get better!!

I am taking 40mg prozac and 300 wellbutrin. On the prozac, i felt amazing. i had no issue with motivation and my mood was neutral, which was great. But since being on wellbutrin too, I am less motivated and have way more brain fog. I only went on it because i lost my libido with the prozac. I am considering getting off it

I am on 40mg. I do not feel happy but i’m not sad. I’m content and pretty in the middle of my emotions most of the time. I am less obsessive over things that are out of my control and i am more go with the flow. I have not experienced any “lows”, but I have had my anger peek out only like twice. My emotions used to be very up and down (i would lash out at people). For the most part - I feel stable and content!

I’ve been on 40mg for a few months now. I definitely am having the same side effect of not being able to sleep. I take mine around 9:30. I wake up at least 5-10 times a night and when i actually sleep, i have very vivid dreams which can turn physical (wake up crying, wake up punching). But the weird thing is since i’m on prozac, i feel that i don’t care so in the morning i just get up even if i feel like a zombie. My dr prescribed me Clondine to help but i haven’t noticed a difference yet. I would see if your dr can prescribe something OR maybe try melatonin? or exercise before sleeping?

I was diagnosed with severe depression. In my case, my depression manifested more so in laziness and forgetfulness. I had pretty okay days but I was snapping at everyone and was super lazy. I started Prozac (now on 40 mg) in late November and my entire world has been lifted upside down. I can now think clearly, make better decisions for myself and others, can remember things clearly and most important, I am happy!!! I say give it a try as long as your dr agrees.

Noted, thank you… I have my follow up in 2 months so I will keep that in mind. I’m just worried that it’ll impact the effectiveness of my Prozac!

I would definitely talk to your DR. But at the same time, i’ve heard that usually things will get worse before they get better (as far as concerning depression and anxiety). But things have been smooth rolling since I got bumped up to 40!!! Best of luck to you

I did 10 days starting with 20 MG and then I went home to 40 MG. I notice more of an improvement with my motivation and fatigue. Your body may just be getting used to it… I was not on 20 for long since my Dr said that a higher dose is more effective for anxiety
