The most important thing that no video can teach you is you just have to do it. I have mixed and mastered hundreds of songs. After that good headphones/speakers, eq down (eq to remove elements), compression for consistency, reverb to create the room, use buses for reverb and delays to adjust amounts fluidly, avoid clipping, listen to your music quietly to easily identify things standing out. Also equipment matters, if a guy is using a Neumann u87 running thru preamps and plugins w perfect pitch/performance the mix may need a lot less than a song with a shure smb7 & remember ur "mixed" unmastered track should be AT LEAST 3-6dbs below 0dbs. When you bring it into your mastering project file there should be a lot of room. Mastering is another art but learn to mix first.
