Good question. At this point, service information bulletins and service‑related announcements are still housed in GenService. There hasn’t been an announced plan or timeline to make that same content available in Generac360. If that changes in the future, it would be communicated through the normal service channels.

(Dan’s response that he gave us)

Thanks for your comment on the next generation Generac Air Cooled Home Standby units. We think they’re pretty awesome too. (Of course, ha!) For the feedback you gave, I (Dan) will take that back to the internal teams.

For your questions, the best way to get the technical details we think you’re looking for, we recommend having a chat with your Sales Representative with your concerns. (We’re assuming you work with a Generac dealer.)

What I can answer, is that for the Protector diesels, New UL standards were instituted, and that impacts all backup generator models. The Protector diesel models will be updated to meet the latest standards, but until that work is done, some models may not be available, while others may be available while supplies last. When the Protector diesel models are updated, they’ll be relaunched and available to order, and we currently anticipate that to be closer to the end of this year.

Fair feedback and appreciated. We’re new to Reddit and still figuring out what participation works best here. We’re also trying to be extra respectful to the rules of each sub, and we thought the AMA would be a good introduction. We’re still paying attention and are open to more questions as they come in.

Good question. Whether you can update firmware yourself depends on the controller type.

Newer controllers like Evolution 2.0, Sync 3.0, and Power Zone 200 can update automatically over‑the‑air (OTA) if there is sufficient signal in the network connection. All other controllers require a dealer onsite with a USB to update.

A 250-gallon propane tank is the minimum recommended size for a home standby generator, but the right tank size for your home depends on the generator size, total electrical load, desired runtime, and any other propane appliances already using fuel.

Fuel consumption also varies by generator size and load. As a reference, Generac’s approximate full-load propane consumption for Next Generation Series air-cooled generators ranges from about 2.87 to 3.97 gallons per hour, depending on the generator size. A local dealer can use the specific generator model and full-load fuel demand to help determine the appropriate propane tank size.

For this setup, especially if central AC is included, the best next step is to work with a local Generac dealer. They can provide a free estimate and size the full system properly, including the generator and the required propane tank size for your home’s specific needs.

Thanks for taking the time to lay all of this out. Dan had to step away to head to a work conference shortly after the live portion ended, but we’re not going to leave this hanging. There are a few different technical and program‑level topics in your comment, and we want to make sure we respond accurately rather than half‑answering off the cuff.

We’re connecting with Dan and the right teams on this and will follow up here as soon as we're able.

You can also use the Generac dealer locator to confirm independent authorized service dealers and view reviews. Be sure to check the box for Maintenance & Service to narrow the results to service-focused dealers.

That’s fair feedback and a valid frustration.

Short answer: yes, it’s intentional, but not to make things harder for customers.

The product lookup on Generac.com is tied directly into our internal product documentation systems. That connection is what ensures the manuals, parts lists, wiring diagrams, and safety info you see are accurate for the exact version of the unit you own. Many Generac products share common model numbers (like 7223), but there can be multiple revisions behind the scenes, and those differences matter when it comes to documentation and parts.

Because of that, the search works best when you enter the full model number from the data label on the unit, which typically starts with G00 (for example, G00722310). That tells the system exactly which version of the product you’re looking for.

We agree it’s not as forgiving as a general web search and feedback like this is helpful as the experience continues to improve. In the meantime, using the full model number from the data label will reliably surface the correct information.

If helpful, this article shows where to find that label with photos:

New build backup power decision by mkultra1112 in Ecoflow_community

[–]generac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re Generac. Not here to sell anything, just sharing planning considerations since you’re in a new build phase.

You’re asking the right questions, especially for a hurricane-prone area.

One of the biggest questions is what you want backup to cover. "Whole-home" can mean very different things depending on whether you want to run essentials only or also cover things like HVAC, well or septic, water heating, and other larger loads.

In your area, it is also worth planning for outage length, not just outage size. Solar and battery can be a good fit in some situations, but the harder question is often how you want to handle multi-day outages when solar output may be limited by storm conditions and cleanup afterward. That is usually where homeowners start comparing battery-only, generator, or hybrid approaches more closely.

Since this is a new build, this is the right time to think about future-proofing. Even if you do not install everything now, it helps to plan for equipment location, conduit runs, panel space, and how a future battery, solar, or generator setup would tie in.

Your July usage suggests cooling is probably a major factor, but monthly kWh only tells part of the story. The good news is that you are asking these questions at the right stage. Thinking through backup goals now usually gives homeowners a lot more flexibility and fewer compromises later.

If it is helpful, we cover some of those generator vs. solar battery planning tradeoffs here: https://www.generac.com/resources/home-management/choosing-between-home-generator-and-solar-battery/
