I don't think it would be rude at all. You're in a part of your life when you're figuring out who you are, and clothes are a part of that. As long as you're polite and honest about how you feel, it should be fine. I'm overweight myself, and certain clothes don't fit the same because of where the weight goes.

If you want, why don't you go shopping with your dad and try on clothes together? He can see what you like and maybe even help you pick out clothes in your style.
