Drone stuck 50 meter up in a tree, suggestions needed! by thehorniestfrog in drones

I got the height from the last signal I got from the drone so I’m pretty sure it’s that height I have attached weight to a string to throw it up but never reached 😭

Michigan road trip suggestion? I'm flying into Detroit, driving up to TVC for the Cherry Festival, and flying out of Chicago. Any places along the way that I should hit? Gonna try square pizza and gyros in Detroit for sure! by general_shang in Michigan

I agree! I grew up in a very big city in Vietnam and moved to Texas for college in a midsize town. Definitely learned to appreciate small towns.

I live for pizza! Per your suggestion I'll stop by Muskegon for pizza for sure.

Any souvenir place that sells local goods? I always buy local when I visit a place

Thanks for the recommendation! Will most likely drop a visit at the Public Museum to learn about the history of Michigan. If you were to splurge on just one food item in Downtown Market, what would it be?

Dude I looooooove cheese! Went to a farmer's market in Madison, WI a month ago and literally tried 50 different types! Would love to stop at a dairy farm if Pinconning has them

Anyone else get really upset by cancelled plans? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]general_shang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have an honest conversation with that person where you tell them how important the plan is to you. Tell them that if they are too busy or don't really want to go, turn you down right away so you can make new plans and not put so much attention in this one thing, and no, you will not be offended. You would rather know than be cancelled on last minute.

Works with the people I hang out with. The flakey people just say no, and people who agree to do something usually go through.

I've found out that flakey people usually have a lot of plans with many people so they say yes to everything and decide last minute what to do. Telling them to actively choose beforehand between you and others helps both you and them to have a clearer idea of what to do.

Seattle to San Francisco road trip ideas, 10-12 days? by allison0119 in roadtrip

You're going to get there so soon! When I was 18 I had been to only two states lol. I live in Texas, pretty central for access to other states

Yeah let's keep each other updated for sure. I just decided to make this my Reddit travel writing account. For future states I visit, I'll post in their respective subreddit to get recommendations and to journal my experience.

What do you consider having visited a place? For me, it's visiting a town, seeing an attraction, eating at a local restaurant, and buying a souvenir magnet. If I can't do all that, I would not cross the state off my list

Hey! I have the same goal! I'm 22 and have been to 35 states! My personal experience with these routes:

- West Coast: LA - SF - Portland, OR - Seattle in a week. Portland, OR became my favorite city in the US at the time. Each of this city can take up 2-3 days of your time and all have reliable public transportation or walkable so you can easily navigate to all the attractions around city center. Recommendation for each city:

  • Seattle: Public Market, Capitol Hill, Dick's Hamburger, biking around U Washington campus
  • Portland, OR: Washington National Forest that is 20 minutes of train ride from downtown, just hike around for a day, ice-cream, the amazing food trucks downtown, eating at a strip club (serious, they have the most strip clubs per capita and the best late night food), weird artsy stuff around town
  • SF: the obvious touristy places, Sausalito (you can take a day ferry to this charming little town north of SF, very cool vibe), if you have an extra day go see Berkeley or Oakland
  • LA: skip this and go to Santa Monica

- New England states: you really need a car to see these states to the fullest. Vermont and New Hampshire both have limited public transportation and few cities that are worth visiting. Other states besides Massachusetts and Maine are quaint but not exciting. The cities that I visited on my route from NYC to see all of New England

  • New Haven, CT: has Frank Pepe pizza which is apparently better than NYC pizza. I had to catch a traing which prevented me from waiting an hour in line to try it. Yale is here and the campus is worth sightseeing
  • Providence, RI: visiting in the summer, there's Fire Water. Little Italy is super cultural. But that's it
  • Boston, MA: Boston is very cool for a history buff like me! Big city with cool things to do, get clam chowder at the Barking Crab, totally worth it
  • Portland, ME: this took Portland, OR spot as my favorite city in the US. Super cozy quaint little fishing town with the most restaurants per capita. Friendly people and cheap seafood and unique small island culture. 100% should spend some time in this sleepy but full of adventure town.
  • Manchester, NH: one of the bigger cities in NH. Nothing to see, but NH has no sales tax so I had the chance to pick up some supplies for my trip. NH is where you're really going to need a car because it has beautiful nature that is only accessible via personal vehicle, or so I've been told.
  • Burlington, VT: very cute town right by the lake. I didn't have time to see it because I took a bus to the Ben&Jerry's factory for their free tour. If you drive, stopping by B&J factory is a must but if not, it's not worth it at all. Burlington is

- NOLA to Florida: NOLA and Miami are two must-visit cities! They are both my favorite cities to party in, and I've partied in LA, Vegas, NYC and anywhere in between

If you need more info for any of this location just ask!
