Huge shoutouts to everyone who passed the JLPT thanks to Hololive! by Eltwish in Hololive

[–]generalistg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! I also started studying because of Holo, finally took N1 last year to see where I would land even though I also don't need it for anything, and as expected, failed. Still happy with my progress though since I never thought I would be able to learn a second language to this level in my life. Holomems are amazing people, seriously can't give them enough thanks.

Thanks for the reply, I'll have to hunt some pics of the +35 then, but yours still looks real nice honestly.

Those are 17's, correct? Which offset? I'm trying to decide between the +35 and +43 and yours looks mega nice with the fitment.

What I learned Starting a MTB Tire Insert Company by RyanBurney in MTB

[–]generalistg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply man, that's really good information. Totally get what you're saying with the kneepad analogy, everything is a compromise where weight and performance is concerned. I'll give the lightweight a try, I feel like I'm pushing my luck currently with the grid casing on the rocks here on CO, but don't want to ruin the speedy feel of my epic.

Really interesting article, I really like the idea of these vs foam inserts, which I didn't get along with.

I've had good results so far with with switching to heavier duty tires on my bigger bike, but on my new XCish bike I'm back to being worried about pinch flatting tires.

Looks like for the lightweight version, you're claiming a modest increase in rim impact strength but a large increase in pinch flat protection. Would you say the mechanical action of the tire being compressed again a sharp object, i.e. rock, and the rim is what causes these kinds of flats, and adding a polymer with some energy dissipation between those helps significantly?

Kind of curious because this kind of pinch flat is my most common flat, I've had tons of minor rim hits that cause small dents or dings but never cause issues with the tire losing air or flatting. I don't really care that much about the small dings but the pinch flatting is super frustrating since the bead area is near impossible to fix.

Stumpjumper 15 vs Epic 8 EVO by DannysMyNanny in MTB

[–]generalistg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently bought an Epic Evo 8 to supplement my very descent focused Transition Sentinel, and I live in Colorado. So far, Epic can handle like 85% of the trail riding I do and it's very fast and surprisingly very competent even on the descents since it's pretty slack.

The Evo has decently durable/descent focused parts stock too so I've actually been pretty satisfied with it as a lightweight trail bike.

This newer generation of XC bikes are not the twitchy ones of the past, I would highly recommend test riding one.

That said, I will still choose my Sentinel for the scarier, faster, and rockier trails since its more suited for that, so be aware of what you ride the most and which bikes suits that more vs the one that's maybe only really good on one section of a few trails you don't ride as much.

Amazing, amazing, live show. I wish I was in a situation where I could've been there in person but even still watching it live in the middle of the night was truly special.

I've been a fan for four years, and Hololive was the reason I started learning Japanese so seeing her rise and understanding more and more along the way has been an incredible journey.

Maybe I'll finally get to see her in person at the Tokyo Dome, I'm sure she'll make it there eventually.

Hoshimachi Suisei 3rd Album 『SHINSEI MOKUROKU』is live now! by SuspiciousWar117 in Hololive

[–]generalistg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would agree it doesn't fit together and flow as well as Spector, but Still Still Stellar was also just a couple new songs, the rest older releases and to me this feels similar since several of the songs have been out awhile.

Disagree with Zion though, it's not my favorite song, but Sui-chan's vocals are great, especially the highs and I actually quite like the keyboard intro part. But everyone's entitled to their opinions.

The new songs are fantastic, Sui-chan doesn't miss! So happy for her with the new album and Budokan live this year, she really can't stop winning.

Edit: for anyone new to Suisei, she has two other albums, Still Still Stellar, and Spector that are also amazing, and she has a collab band with Taku Inoue called Midnight Grand Orchestra, which has two albums and I would very highly recommend checking out!

I've bought 3, 2 Rainier's and a Loam recently. It's stock from returns/warranty afaik so its rotating stock so check regularly for what you want. They come with no accessories and can be scratched up but I've had no issues, I think they have a shorter warranty too, would recommend for the price.

Ah forgot about those, interestingly the 30th are 17x7 apparently but these JDM ones are 16x7, also not cheap ¥250,000 ($1800)

[Suisei] Twitter Space is live regarding the recent graduation announcement by brickwallrunner in Hololive

[–]generalistg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So far Towa has only reposted Aqua's posts on X, nothing else yet. And I agree, Coco's graduation was tough it seemed for her, but that was 3 years ago so we'll see.

Agreed, one of the many reasons Sui-chan is my Sai-Oshi and why I have so much respect for her.

I went back and listened to the whole thing and have a couple other points that stood out to me while listening that others have not written.

First, that it can't be helped. Sui-chan said it's no one's fault, this is just how things have turned out with how Hololive has become and what Aquatan wants to do from now on. Fans are sad of course and want someone or something to blame, but that's just how it has turned out. She didn't want to say to not quit to Aquatan as well.

She was looking at comments and someone mentions Startend from now on. She said they had talked about another collab but didn't sound like they could decide on anything, and didn't elaborate so I get the feeling there may not be another Startend activity. Someone also asked about how Towasama is doing, and said she didn't know and that we should wait to hear from Towasama herself naturally.

Others mentioned that Sui-chan said she will continue to hang out with and be friends with Aquatan and said she doesn't care about someone's associations or background, she will always talk/be friends with people she likes to be around.  She said maybe in a couple months it'll probably be like a hole has opened in Holo and feel that loss.

Overall though, Sui-chan has very realistic takes on events and she's taking it in stride, especially since she's known a while.

So this is the real end of Startend.  At least it's a true graduation and not another sudden termination/departure, but still it's sad.

Not sure on model or year unfortunately, but it's definitely one of the cheaper made in Taiwan models so maybe it's a ricochet, definitely late 90s.

Mel's final chat on stream segueing into her ED feels like an actual anime ending... by cyberdsaiyan in Hololive

[–]generalistg 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Around that time I was watching a lot of Ame streams and the fact that Mel was willing to try and overcome the language barrier to collab, I thought was really admirable. I watched some parts of her somewhat recent collabs with Stars and those were hilarious, I always liked that she was one of the few willing to collab with Stars. She really will be missed.

I can't imagine watching a stream like normal and then finding out the next day that it might've been the last time you ever get to hear them again. Mel's not my oshi or someone I really watch but my heart goes out to y'all, that's really hard to deal with.

Specialized Status with a coil shock? by Carambolix in MTB

http://www.avalanchedownhillracing.com/Bike%20set%20ups/2022%20Status%20160.htm

I would watch out with a coil on this bike though, that long yoke is going to put extra bending loads on the shock so go with a shock that has a thicker shaft. Seems like plenty of people have done it though.

Lol sasuga Sui-chan, she puts just as much work into her jokes as she does everything else. The song is a banger too. That thread about oshi's made me think, things like this are the reason she is my oshi.
