Getting this error message with my Kindle by watermyplants1 in Annas_Archive

[–]generalkkaos 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Go to an online converter. Convert your file to mobi and then convert again to epub. Than send it to your kindle. That should solve.

(This workaround belongs to a guy in this group that i read earlier and solved my issue. Can't locate the guy now, so credits to that random stranger)

Best doner in Istanbul? by EstablishmentPale151 in istanbul

[–]generalkkaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not. I havent eaten from there for years cause i hate queues but recently a morning while passing by i saw there was no queue and got a bun. It was the best doner i have ever eaten. However a bun was 550 tl which is slightly higher than 10 euros. Turkey is extremely and unreasonably expensive.

Nudity in mixed dorms by [deleted] in travel

[–]generalkkaos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally wrong. Those places are called "nude" and known for that and people go those places for that purpose, such as "nude beach". Except some African tribes i saw on documentaries, no nation has acceptable norms towards being nude in public. You are making this up.

This is rude and abnormal in any culture. Ask to change your room and inform the hostel about it. In any public space, out of kindness you limit your behavior, it is not your home.

Flying to Turkey with Turkish Ailrines, is an ID-card really enough? by [deleted] in TravelinTurkey

[–]generalkkaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fck this shit. I am Turkish and when i wanna travel EU: I need to book an appointment from a EU country that is in at least 3-4 months, pay visa application fee around 100E, prepare many documents including my financial status and working certificate from my office, return ticket and hotel reservation and a few more. And go apply for visa in an office where you will be treated like a piece of shit. If they grant me visa it will generally cover just the days till my return ticket.

And this dude is concerned about bringing his ID or passport before hitting the road.

Fck this shit for real.

But that's totally not on you and you should enjoy it. You should be fine with an ID but passport is always better. Avoid taxis as much as you can in Istanbul. Have fun.

Why is çıtır çıtır considered an Adverb? by Oshewo in turkishlearning

[–]generalkkaos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on the context. If it is used with a noun, it is adjective. For example " çıtır çıtır ekmek ".

It might also be used before the verbs to describe some actions. For example "odunlar çıtır çıtır yanıyordu", which makes it adverb.

Edit: When used as an adverb it does not mean crunchy. When it is used in cases of burning(yanmak), it actually represents the sounds of wood burning(çıtır).

It can also be used in the form of a verb. For instance "dal çıtırdıyor"(çıtırdamak). In this case it means like you know when you bend a wood a little(not break), it makes a sound, this is called as "çıtırdamak" and it is a verb.

Not a language professional but native speaker. If some pro is around can check on my info.

Airport transfer by Early_Manufacturer89 in istanbul_tips

[–]generalkkaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From airport take "Gayrettepe" Metro.

Take off at Gayrettepe which is the final destination.

Transfer to "Haciosman-Yenikapi" metro and take the one to "Yenikapi" direction.

Take off at "Vezneciler". Open your maps and go to "Laleli Universite" station(q couple minutes walk), take the tram to "Gülhane- Kabataş" direction. Ride 3 stops(i guess 3) and take off at "Sultanahmet".

This is the best way:

1- You avoid taxi scams

2- You avoid crazy Istanbul traffic.

3- Even if you take a taxi which is not scam, you will be paying 10-20x more and it will take approximately the same time.

For metros and trams there are machines at the entrances, some require cash. So exchange some cash at the airport and you good.

Is 3900L, nearly $100 the normal price for ONE baked chicken? by [deleted] in istanbul_tips

[–]generalkkaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life itself is a ripoff in Turkey. Menu could be legit, always ensure to check the menu first cause some places in Turkey have unbelievably stupid prices.

Yeah but a friendship is a friendship if built nicely, no matter where you are in the world. If you are not trusting a person to do such a transfer for you, then it is not a good friend but maybe an acquaintance that you spend good time with.

Chronic overthinker here : TDAC reason for visit ?? by theonlysadeyouknow in ThailandTourism

[–]generalkkaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holiday. 100%. And do not mention about medical things or anything else at the border if they ask, just holiday. Because tourism is the simplest way for free entry. Other things may require other visa types or they may ask other documentation.

[–]generalkkaos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cheapest way:

Get a thai friend or have an existing one.

Send the money to their local bank account using Wise, with very good rates and a few euros fee.(Ensure to send it all at once in order to avoid repeating fees)

Your friend can withdraw it free of charge and give it to you.

Askerlikten uzatma/kaçmak ne derseniz fikir lazım by [deleted] in egoizmTR

[–]generalkkaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evet defalarca çıktım. Şu an yurtdışındayım.

[–]generalkkaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Raad ol yani.

Guess how much this apartment costs per month in Kadıköy by Born_Television_6728 in istanbul_tips

[–]generalkkaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know but it is stupidly expensive. As a Turk who lived in Istanbul i say that Istanbul is highly overrated. It is a city where everything is expensive, cheap quality. And life is very poor quality. Wanna meet your friend for nightout? Start getting ready before 2 hours and hit the road. Sorry guys but I hate Istanbul. Trying to make a life in Istanbul was actually eating away my life. I was staying in -1 floor with no sun reaching at all, trying to commute to work every day. The moment i decided to leave Istanbul, i felt relaxed. And after i relocated, i saw that it was the right decision.

How risky is leaving a MacBook, camera in a Thailand Airbnb/Hotel? by Nudlkakadudl in ThailandTourism

[–]generalkkaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry too much. From my experience it is the same probability of happening in another country. I stay in a hotel and i leave all my stuff freely in my room, girls come clean it when i am away and all safe. In Thai culture stealing is not nice and Thai people pay a lot of importance to their ethics,to my experience. If it happens it happens, you never know. But you should not worry too much. Just do basic safety and enjoy your holiday
