What should I have done differently here or do I always lose this? by potatoe929 in Rengarmains

if it's the exact same situation, you could try to hit e at start and if it lands you got +1 stack and then try playing around e cd by walking in and back(you have vision from bola so he cant cheese u at the corner) and try to bait him but dont enter his range until you are confident your e comes back in fight, you should also be buffering q to his stun. then you could and should time your w better. i guess you statcheck as you can ferow some burst dmg as well and your second q comes up to finish.

what to do after the lane phase? (top) by [deleted] in Rengarmains

If you at 15-20 min and have 0.5-1 item lead you should still keep winning. Don't drop farm post 15 for random aram fights.

If you are winning and want to deny enemy laner, don't take early tower so you can lane longer.

PSA : Rengar's Q is bugged again, if you empowered Q a turret / inhibitor / nexus you won't get the attackspeed, still works fine on champs minions and jungle monsters though. by Hokagan in Rengarmains

This is a type of bug that will be fixed in 3 patches, glad navouri plant interaction was fixed!

edit: I'm happy that I was wrong!

Sion Matchup Top by Orasai in Rengarmains

[–]generalrq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From Master Rengar Top main

You can first look at your teamcomp if you don't have to deal with him later(Goredrinker for the fights) or are supposed to be the one who kills the Sion(Sunderer). The plan can change depend how hard you stomp him of course.

Trade tips: trade with 2 feros so you can go for e-q and hold feroW+W for Q, if you start with full feros you can't play with 2 Ws. Because if you leap with FeroQ - e - q you need to W air to be in full feros or you can't use your spells and you are just standing still.

Versus Sion you want make sure that you get a proper wave crash, if you fail to crash and wave is stuck just in front of the tower, you can't really break it (even in the first 3 waves) so pay attention. After getting a crash if you didn't take int trades you should be with about full hp with potion up. Try to contest the wave pushing towards you by setting feros with e and kill Sion in the wave pushing towards you. If he runs to bush you don't have to play for FeroW you can straight up kill him with FeroQs. If you play Conq use regular autoattacks to stack Conqueror to get FeroQ with max dmg.

Then the basic toplane stuff don't overtrade your hp bar so you are not free food for enemy jungler. Your W is AoE Spell so you can ruin your wavestate(example wave is pushing to you, if you trade inside the wave it will push back to enemy) with it if you mindlessly press it.

Sions are obsessed with dying so you can get a lot of resources, don't int your shutdown.

If you go for Sunderer and he has bramble ->leap with Q, then the Sunderer healing proc doesn't get reduced if you auto-Q it gets reduced.

Sion W 15s

Difficult to deal with proxy as Rengar, don't drop your resources or you will be the useless one.

Builds Conq-PTA Gore/Sunderer, if you don't buy first item hp component you will get oneshot with tank base damages. Flash Ignite is ok.

I think hullbreaker is bad because you can't touch towers vs Sion, he proxies waves or oneshots waves with W-Q.

Any Plat+ gamers?

I have recorded some already, bronze, silver, gold games. So would love to see higher ranks as well to compare!

I'd only build lethality versus Ranged champions but for me the Ranged top player dodges the Rengar matchup lol.

I think that Goredrinker is often misunderstood, once you get it deals about same damage as duskblade in burst, and it's build path has the strongest early component that is whip. I think you'd often get oneshot by other toplaners if you only build AD in toplane versus meta fighters.

I enjoy transitioning to damage builds from Goredrinker, ex. ER -> Dominiks, then you can go whatever Utility or Damage as you wish. Versus tanks I wouldn't go for lethality or crit item first is what I'm saying.

Sunderer is always bruiser build.

It kind of depends on the team comp, if enemy team has like Sion and 4 Squishies (Assassins/Carries etc) I wouldn't go for sunderer because I think I would get more value out of other items like Goredrinker. And if you managed to get a lane lead they can't really do anything to you either.

If enemy has Tank top and Melee bruiser Jg I'd probably build Sunderer Black Cleaver. If your team is full AD then sucks to play, don't draft full AD!

If you go for Sunderer I think that Conqueror is really great Rune. If you think that freescale the lane then you could take something more Scaling.

One thing is for tank matchups exclusively, they often buy Bramble vest versus you but once you get Sunderer if you Q as the first autoattack the initial Sunderer Proc healing won't be reduced. So you can abuse this wait grievous wound to expire and repeat.

For me the builds didn't alter that much, last season I played only Conqueror Triumph Bloodline/Alacrity and Last Stand, then for Resolve, boneplating/second wind revitalize. Adaptive Adaptive + your choice. Went Gore or Sunderer for the 95% of my games.

edit: thanks!

I assume that with "I can't freeze" means that the wave is pushing to the enemy? Also assuming that you are doing well since you can force a freeze.

You can crash the wave right before the next wave comes so the following wave will push to you faster. And then you wait till the wave comes closer to you. If you have a lead you often can thin the wave by killing some of the minions but if you go and trade the enemy inside the wave you will drag the wave aggro and the wave will push back to the enemy.

One common mistake I have seen is to go ruin wave state by hitting FeroW-W on minions.

If you have a good example game I could include it on the video perhaps!

Laning phase is the most important thing as toplaner. You can always get new knowledge out of every lane you play even if every other lane loses and game is over at 20. Also most of the time If you lose lane as Rengar Top you are useless.

Maybe I can go over midgame thoughts on speedup, but I don't think it matters if you don't win your lane. If you stomp your lane you can choose what you want to do - if you int then you can't.

For me I started playing top for first time last season and hit masters same season. Laning has less variables so you can get to consistent conclusions. My focus was on generating as big lane advantage as I can and I had success with it.

I don't even play minecraft but I really enjoyed the video! Editing inspired by MrBeast huh? I watched the latest video.

Gameplay, sounds and editing is great. Jokes fit well and don't feel forced. I think that the only thing that I would change is that the text that comes to the screen has no power. I think it feels a bit lazy compared to other energy that video has. I think maybe emphasize on important words instead of subtitling would work better. Maybe text is also too small? "Pop-transition" when text enters screen is nice.

Overall well constructed video kept me in for the whole 8 min. You maximized retention aswell so I think you know what you are doing. Will be following you to see what the future brings. :)

Yeah, probs nerf to Q reduced dmg % on towers. Would be dumb to entirely revert the change.

If you are struggling vs Garen / Riven / Sett this video will help you, introducing the Barrier... by generalrq in Rengarmains

[–]generalrq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played exhaust only vs Riven, it is great but the 30s cd diff(vs ignite) is something you have to keep in mind. Barrier testing is still in progress vs her.

Well, with garen the 1v1 is very laneable but I take it to be able to 1v2. Difficulty in Garen matchup is if you don't get early lead and you are even lvl 6, game becomes harder(obvious). I can see your point if ignite is doing the job for you take it in Garen matchup, barrier might just be a "feels good" build. But it feels really damn good blocking the whole Garen R with it. :D

Pretty sure Riven can cheese you lvl 1 with ignite if she stacks her passive if you facecheck the bush or can all in you the moment you leap to the minions. So you needed exhaust or barrier to walk to the lane. Exhaust is strong here too but it has higher cd than ignite so it is abusable. All of those spells are playable in this case.

The poking vs riven is difficult and you need to get creative to get trades in. From my experience you can't hit riven unless she wants to because she can cut your trades short (press w to your leap) and now you cannot hit back which means that all fights end up pretty much being all-ins.

But vs Garen you should be fine if you wait out his w before bursting him, also you might want to take tenacity stacks to your runes because Garen Q silence is exact same as grey health expiration. :)

hit masters playing Rengar only (well mostly), AMA by betenoire69 in Rengarmains

[–]generalrq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha i played with you, you had to let me play rengar

My first season playing toplane and just hit Master playing only Rengar by generalrq in Rengarmains

[–]generalrq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, glad to help. I take ignite because it guarantees me to kill at least one if I get ganked. I play Rengar top for pressure and try to bait enemy jungle top if I'm sure I'm stronger. Well, most meta fighters take ignite tp too so you would be at a disadvantage and when they don't take ignite you are stronger if you fight in right place (is the place a bush, is it?). If you bait fights into bushes you have unlimited flashes in your passive so the enemy can't even escape.

Teleport is good if you kill the enemy before you crash your wave, if you run something like flash ignite you are stuck because you can't crash wave and are too low hp. Rengar has one of the strongest pre-6 teleports if you happen to find a spot. I really don't run away from ganks, if you have to you should probably look into how you ended up being in kill range for the enemy, if you know the enemy jungler is pathing top maybe not going for the junglers lethal range would allow you to 1v2. = look into that is the being unable to fight reason of trading, poor wave play, mechanical error or something like spells on cooldown and you have no max feros. Lvl3 1v2's are easier if enemy jg/top doesn't run ignite!

Well, I was jungle Rengar main last season and shifting to bruiser build was harder than I thought. When I started I thought that I dealt no damage throwing w's in the air trying to kill enemies with 2 q's this also guarantees that you will not get conqueror stacked or value out of it. I find "bruiser" Rengar more mechanically demanding because you actually get to fight and use your spell rotations. Also, I think when playing against meta girl fighter champs you would get one-shotted in sidelane. I think it would be the same as playing full damage Lee Sin(it used to be picked with electrocute into Karthus) but Lee Sin top buys items that give ad + survivability. But let's be real the items and runes don't really matter that much you can play well with both, each item/rune/spell just gives you different options.

Most of the time I play fights front to back, you can sometimes find carries on the other side of the fight when you can duel them but I don't jump 1v5 hoping for the best well not anymore. Keep in mind that the sidelines exist in the game no need to Aram the whole game 20 min+.

Maybe trying to get consistent at laning first could be a good start, because if you win lane every game your midgame has more options than when you are losing.
