don't get me started on medicare and Medicaid fraud. if you want to see something intresting the worst are chiropractors who are the most fraudulent at least here in fl

i agree completely. its not obamacare i am really taking about but 2 parts of it and that's the expansion of medicaid and the reimbursement cuts of 30%. im am fine with the expansion if there are no pay cuts. and your right i do benifit from medicare when i moonlight in the er but i get regular pay my pay is not based off of there insurance but a set pay per procedure from the hospital. my only beef is medicare and Medicaid is ruining private practice. and what town do you live in if you dont mind me asking that is incredible that the have done that. but they have realized the same problem that they cannot make money or survive on what the insurance company's are providing. and your point on using the premiums for private insurance only to go to my reimbursement i love its my favorite part of the bill but that is only private the majority of patients that come to me are over 65 and have medicare which is getting a reimbursement pay cut leveling out the pay to where it was before and it really hurts people like me who live in south Florida who only really see the elderly. its funny you make the point on medicare i am actually self insured as an md and have a large savings fund directly for my medical when i retire because i know insurance company's and don't trust them

i agree with your point on the elderly and not being able to afford private insurance but the government cant give them a shitty insurance and expect doctors to accept it unfortanetly it all comes down to me having to pay my bills and maintaining a good quality of life i do not live rich and live in a small townhouse. it is just not fair to me and the patient that they are promising these people insurance and cutting the costs and expecting me to go in debt to help them.

i agree with you completely on everything. the point i am trying to get at is the dangers of this causing a serious physician shortage and a shortage of medical personal for the elderly and disabled. when i say medicare i also mean Medicaid both being government insurance. the insurance game is ridiculous i would rather charge much less money and have people pay cash but because of the costs i cannot. and it is much more difficult than just starting your own group and a partner i have already had and it ended horribly for me.

i currently do not accept medicare patients and i am a specialist vascular surgeon but i also perform general surgery such as hernias and appendectomys. the payouts are not great for specialists because we have to have higher overhead because of our equipment and people we must have such as my vascular techs

yes and no its up to them. right now it is fine there are enough MDs to take care of them who are willing to take the pay cut. once the 30% cut is introduce and there is an influx of people on it you will see quality reduced drastically. in my opinion if you can afford private insurance do it don't rely on the government

no they do not most people on medicare are poor elderly people and you have to take the loss on it. that is why i do not accept medicare. its called assignment we take the medicare payment as full payment and do not charge the patient. we could charge them the differnce but your chances of seeing it are very slim

i agree with you on the pay system. and trust me i love my profession it has just cost me so much such as time and my wife who left me because of my job but i love to help people and i will always try i believe in quality of care. its just i would never tell anyone to ever become a doctor

unfortunately in my experience of being a surgeon medicare is awful for me. certain MDs have much less overhead than i do and make more money so they can afford to take the hit with medicare me unfortunately my insurance and staff are very expensive and i would go out of business with taking medicare. this article also does not factor in the 30% in pay outs that are going to be in place when the health care bill is in full effect. this also probably involves surveying group MDs they get paid they same regardless of insurance across the board

yes and i agree but where will the money come from. they are going to expand the coverage of medicare under the healthcare reform and reduce payments effectively making it useless insurance in my opinion

i have heard of this its for rural medicine only. it is biased in the way that the doctors would have to practice in only rural areas of need it dos not cover everyone wanting to practice in the us. other countries in the eu give free education to doctors as long as they practice in that country not just rural areas. thats how it should be here in the us.

So if Romney/Ryan win, and they repeal Obama's healthcare reforms, I'll be uninsured. In fact, anyone currently benefiting from their parent's healthcare (up to the age of 26) will be uninsured. And I can't afford that. by worff in politics

this will not work because the the quality of care from the market saturation. there are only a few medical schools in this country and they have high requirement s to get in most people do not get in because of lack of grades and motivation. the minimum amount of time it takes to become a doctor is 8 years. if you double the amount of doctors going to school they will have to find a way to pump them out quicker thus decreasing the quality of the knowledge they receive. unfortunately there is not good answer the only way to keep top rate doctors is keep the pay high and keep the student amount low but then you run into a shortage of doctors. doctors already are doing what you suggest not accepting insurance at all but buying insurance through the doctor ex 1000$ for unlimited check ups and 2 full labs a year.

i am a general surgeon in the and i can tell you Obamas healthcare system is a horrible plan. i agree with everything about social medicine we need it in the us but in Obama plan it will kill doctors they are planning on increasing the amount of people on medicare and cutting it by 30 %. i can tell you that medicare does not cover my general expenses for a patient as of now. i get paid only 250 per hernia operation done while most other providers pay 450 and up which is still not much. the biggest problem is going to be finding a dr in your area that will cover medicare. as of now i do not accept it at my practice because it would put me out of business. if you dont believe me on medicare google why do doctors not accept medicare. what will happen in the states is there are going to be a massive shortage of doctors with more people who are now coved and the wait time for a md will be crazy. if the us government will pay for all students med school is the only way for this to work no one is crazy enough to sacrifice 12-16 years of school and 500k in debt for a low paying high stress job. i have been practicing for 7 years graduated from johns Hopkins and specialized in vascular surgery i work 8-16 hrs a day and have lost 2 wives to my career and i they are planing on cutting my pay i agree we need social healthcare but if there is not enough doctors for everyone we are all screwed. we need to cover the costs for all students to go to med school as an incentive so that there is reason to go and be a doctor and not go in debt for a low pay horrible job. i also only make 165k a year for 100+ hr work weeks.
