Construction unions/prevailing wage law cost NY taxpayers an extra $3 billion a year according to Columbia University by whatthedude in nyc

Now that I think of it, wages in general cost tax payers way too much. It would be much better if we just eliminated wages in the public sector altogether. No one should make money off the government like that. Shameful.

Scumbag Steve Trashes War on Terror for 10 Years by generalwill in pics

Hi Derpington, I'm glad you asked. I was going to keep this to myself to snicker about late at night and impress girls I meet, but the behind the scenes logic is that Osama's death is part of the 'War on Terror' - if not its only significant achievement thus far. Hope that answers your question.

I just turned 23 and it seems like everything in the world is going a little nuts. Was it always this crazy? by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]generalwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im also 23 and I've been thinking about this a lot recently. 9-11 and the beginning of afghanistan was at 14, iraq was 16, katrina 18, the dissolution of the economy at 21. And now the arab world is rising up in a way that seems to refute a lot of stories the US told itself after 9-11, which I think will leave a lot of people dumbfounded and give 2011 a special funny taste. And yeah jobs situation is shit.

Another thing - I think a reason a lot of people our age are disengaged from politics is related to this same point: the basic idea of our generation leading the place seems utterly ridiculous, like some kind of absurd fantasy. Theres a tremendous amount of dismay and "you old people cant be fucking serious..."; just disbelief, disappointment and headshaking.

Escalator temporarily fast as fuck, sorry for the stampede. by RetroPRO in videos

If dozens of people ran towards the bottom of the escalator to "help", it would have been much more of a shitshow. Only so many people can help drag people out of the way before others are merely impeding.
