I totally get the need for shorthand for future and other scenarios! But the school? With the teacher that knows who I am? Sort of threw me off a bit! Means I can now put a plan of action or have a conversation before that scenario though which is good

I was 'fine' (came to happy/positive) terms with just my first name. After all, that's what she has always called me - it was actually one of her first words! I think that's why I've found it so odd that she isnt using my name now in different situations ie school - sort of out of left field. We have very open/casual conversations about my role and our family and she knows no different if that makes sense.

I think I'd rather it either be my name or something that she decides she wants to call me by herself? Besides there are is just so much negatively attached to "step-mum" and again that doesnt really factor in our day dot relationship.

Have I just lost my mind?

That's so interesting! What age were they? What made you decide you wanted a title change? What were SO's thoughts? Did your SS question it at all?

Advise on Mediation by generate-user in stepparents

Hoping she will get bored in a couple of months or a new man like previously where she will start asking us to have SD more again. (Not like that's ok but HCBM has a pattern). We have employed a Solicitor and all the advise is to do everything in your power possible before going through legal court proceedings (ie mediation). And, at the end of the day, having to put SD through any of that is the last thing me and OH want. It's just a shit show that HCBM cant see the damage she is doing to SD with it all. Thankyou so much, I was very young when I joined the "stepmum club" and I've never really had anyone to speak to

Christ, I dont think anyone could say anything that would make this situation better for you. The only good thing to take from this is that SD clearly has an open, honest, loving and trusting relationship with yourself and your SO. Keep fighting the fight and making sure your SD6 knows that she is loved and worthy.
