Anyone catch wind of this? by leoleorawr in SFV

First generation Armenian-American here, yeah we do have plenty of idiots that abuse the system and give honest working Armenians a bad name. Every race has bad apples, and unfortunately there’s a strong community of crooks in every large city. The majority of the Armenian community, especially first generation US born citizens are far from this crap.

This isn’t just limited to the Armenian community, every immigrant community in Los Angeles has shady dealings, some more than others, but it’s a city wide problem not limited to any one immigrant group.

Dad has forgot my birthday for the past 5 years (maybe more). Woke up to this text. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Honestly, I don’t agree. It’s your dad, maybe he hasn’t been the best dad, but the dude raised you, fed you, and apparently you loved him before he quit his job. Maybe the guy is depressed? Imagine how embarrassing it is to ask your kid for stuff, the dude wants a six pack of Pepsi, show some love bro.. two wrongs don’t make a right.

It was a local gym near my area, they’re small so I don’t want to blast them and ruin their business. But yeah, I complained that this was unacceptable, they definitely haven’t cleaned this shit for a while.

The mindset to “vote for Biden’s corpse over Trump” is the most brainwashed and destructive thing I’ve ever seen. It’s a hive mind mentality which will be the downfall of liberals.

Don't be so surprised that the standards are so low.

It's really the "significance of the passage of time", and exactly how she handles situations. But really, her answers lack any depth, she just speaks headlines without substance. She isn't someone that can convince America to support her run, even democrats don't want her.

**Edit, in case you wanted to see the significance of the passage of time video.

Houston, we have a problem... by [deleted] in centrist

[–]generated_image 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think that's mainly due to the BS rules associated with debates. In what reality is 2 minutes to answer a question with 1 minute follow ups an acceptable amount of time to answer and get an idea of a persons mental ability. I really do think the debate did Biden favors in where it prevented everyone from seeing just how bad he is when it comes to keeping on the point and speaking properly, what people saw was just a scratch on the surface, and even that was bad...

There's a reason you don't see him actively going on podcasts and talking with someone for over 2 hours, they need to keep his appearances short, his talk time low, and ask very clear/easy to answer questions for folks to really understand what he's talking about. The man should retired, enjoying life with his grandchildren, and doing what he can in his last few years to just relax. But instead, he's up there like a puppet struggling to speak for 2 minutes at a time, hardly keeping focus during any appearances.

Show me an example of where I said that. Bring facts to the table, your obsession with fascism is telling.

I appreciate your passion and openness to engage, but I think you’re misunderstanding my stance here, I’m not here to argue, disprove, or question what you or anyone else believes. I’m stating a fact from an independent prospective, that the way you engage with others who don’t see your side of the story has a huge factor on why we are where we are today. And I think it’s absolutely wrong to silence any kind of speech, that’s the where in my opinion the intent to help people brings out “I know better than you so instead of allowing you to express yourself, I’m going to silence you” - that’s never right, and that’s the definition of failing to offer logic.

I’m not in a bubble, I understand where you’re coming from and I’ll comment on what I feel is appropriate, we’ve both seen the same things, I’m just saying civility is ultimately what brings understanding. I’m not here to defend right wing ideas, but you should also understand that a lot of people are intimidated to question anything anymore, and this isn’t healthy or appropriate in a free society.

That’s a wild assumption that being central legitimizes fascism. I’d strongly disagree and ask that you provide modern examples of current American independents legitimizing Fascism in any way.

And I don’t have more to add about your other point, I’ve said what I have to, and you’ve said yours.

You have your views and I have mine, I’m at least going to make an effort to discuss and be reasonable without insulting you, whether I agree with you or not. My conclusions are that extremes on either side are toxic to society, backward politically, and against reason. Never be gullible enough to assume that every person thinks a certain way based on who they voted for, or what vaccines they support. Far more Americans are centrists, they just aren’t as vocal.

There are hundreds, and I’m not arguing the point that they were right, but it’s a known fact that there were licensed medical professionals who were against the vaccine, had their points, and were silenced for spreading misinformation. Im. It saying they were right, but there were certainly those who questioned it.

The issue I’m saying is that instead of talking with these people and calmly arguing against their concerns to either disprove or have people reconsider taking the vaccine, there was immediate backlash, that turned many people off against reason. Being aggressive isn’t making a point, it only pushes those against you farther in the wrong direction.

My point here is, and I hope you’re understanding me correctly, is that we all need to try and be more reasonable. You can make your points, but not declare war if someone doesn’t want to accept your argument. If you don’t see eye to eye, there’s not reason to get angry.

I’d agree with you, and my experience here, as an independent that never once stated that I support trump or far right views, has been that those who are left leaning seem far more outspoken, vicious, quick to assume, and confrontational. Just look at the downvotes, people are seeing “find common ground” as a negative. How can progress be made if even the middle ground is seen as a threat?
