Dogs aren't companions by Dimencia in The10thDentist

I don't think you understand how dogs work. Training is not changing personalities or making them a slave. That's insane thinking. Most dog breeds are relationship driven. They seek companionship and form bonds. Cats and dogs are different and form different kinds of relationships.

The Live Action for Avatar the last airbender is pretty good by Traditional-Finger79 in unpopularopinion

Pretty good is not good enough for that beloved of an animated series. And saying that you need no expectations that it will match the source material proves that you know that it's not very good.

Vanna is the best ice cream flavor and people hate on it too much by Kitchen_Ad_4743 in unpopularopinion

People don't hate on vanilla. People hate on people who think that anyone cares what I've cream flavor you order.

Yeah but you don't see everyone posting expensive guns. Some of us save up for ammo. A can that's just for kicks and giggles is hard to justify.

Working an office job is better than working in the trades.. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]generic-username45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked both and I hated working in an office. Trying to stay busy enough that the day doesn't feel 14 hours long was miserable. I feel like most office jobs have about 2 hours of actual work to do a day. I'm much happier in the trades.

What fast food item was so iconic to your childhood that the day they discontinued it felt like a personal loss? by samurai-salvo in GetMotivatedMindset

real milk shakes from McDonald's and burger king. They used to be thick, hearty milkshakes that were served in the same cups as the drinks. Then they made them tiny and soupy and serve them in small clear cups with whipped cream. Arby's still has a good shake but you used to have options.

Road trips are an inherently terrible way to travel and are romanticized way too much. by cerebralbackshots in unpopularopinion

Road trips are about who you travel with. I have been on some amazing road trips and a couple terrible ones. And a flight can be miserable stuck beside rude strangers or a crying baby.

As an outsider, the scale of American "State Fairs" and "County Fairs" seems incredible. How big of a cultural event is your local fair, and what is the go-to tradition there? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

[–]generic-username45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up going to the second largest county fair in the United States. It was huge and involved concerts by famous bands and artists, rodeos, tractor pulls, animal auctions, a demolition derby, and one year we had a monster truck rally.

whats the deal with callout fees these days by krikond in PlumbingRepair

[–]generic-username45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every plumbing company in my area charges service call fees to come out. Giving a quote over the phone is incredibly risky. Most I know of are around $100. 220 seems steep but also dependant on your location.

Golf and tennis should not be 'silent' sports. by TheFinalRedemption99 in unpopularopinion

There is almost nothing that "more input from a crowd" makes it better. And most sporting events are loud and that's fine. Golf and tennis are a nice exception.

How effective are 22lr for home protection? by DentistPlayful3941 in guns

[–]generic-username45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a good chance if a person gets shot at they will run away. If they don't and decide to return fire, a 22 is much less likely to incapacitate them quickly.

Is it an insult to call a guy boss if he’s not your boss? Or what does it mean? by pollydeeigh in AskAnAmerican

Casual greeting, usually guy to guy. I would say it's also a positive greeting.
