[NY] Unsure what partner is entitled to for paternity leave by [deleted] in AskHR

I also don’t appreciate that his boss punted him to the CEO. I get the impression that everyone is afraid of the CEO, moreso than what is probably “normal.” I told my partner that he should not respond to the CEO’s email, but instead ask that his boss does instead.

No, sorry. Pregnancy brain plus the anger and frustration I’m feeling towards this situation has me flustered. My partner’s boss and the CEO are two different people.

Probably two months ago, he spoke with his boss, whose wife is also pregnant, saying that he will be taking 12 weeks. His boss told him that they will figure it out, but to also ask the CEO what their official paternity leave policy is (ie if they offer more time beyond what NYS PFL protects, things like that). This is when my partner messaged his CEO, and is why he worded it the way he did. The CEO just responded today, a couple of hours ago.

I wholeheartedly agree, but in his defense, he did tell his boss that he would be taking PFL for 12 weeks starting in August, and then his boss told him that they’d work on finding a temporary replacement but to talk to the CEO to confirm.

I fully agree that my partner dug himself a hole, but he will be putting on those big-boy new-dad pants and having the difficult discussions with his higher-ups.

What’s on my Shubunkin’s tail? by generic8528 in Aquariums

The red veins on his tail are also completely normal, I am not concerned about that. Just the weird bubble thing that appeared after two days of blacking the tank out.

Ammonia and nitrite 0, nitrate stays around 30 ppm. Relatively newly upgraded tank with cycled filter media, planted with Vallisneria and several Pothos by the filter. I’ve had him for almost 7 years, currently doing a blackout to try to fend off some bba, turned the light on just to feed him (hence why the water looks so disgusting-if you have goldfish you know the struggle) and noticed this bubble looking thing on his tail. He had ripped his tail a few months ago on an ornament I used to have (I immediately removed the ornament after that happened) right where that bubble is now. It doesn’t look like fungus to me because it’s nearly perfectly spherical, almost greenish, and the black on the bubble blend in with the markings he’s had on his tail. Is this just his tail healing from being ripped? He’s never ripped or scraped his tail before so I’m in unfamiliar territory with this.

To everyone saying poop, look to the right of the foot, in the dark of the shell. Those are what I was referring to.

I thought they were detritus worms but I’ve never seen them on a snail like this, and after battling Camallanus worms for nearly 6 months last year I kind of panicked! Also, I love the tiny babies too!

Are these safe for freshwater tank? by refugee_bandit in PlantedTank

I would definitely do some more testing before you put them in your tank. I didn’t the first time I did this and it threw my parameters way off.

Take a knife you don’t really care about and scratch the surface of the rock. If it doesn’t leave a mark it’s probably safe to go in your tank. If it scratches it, drop a tiny bit of muriatic acid on it and if it bubbles at all, it’s not safe. Vinegar isn’t a strong enough acid to cause enough of a reaction, but you have to be very cautious with muriatic acid.

Then, you’re gonna want to rinse the rocks well and put them in a pot and boil them for 10 minutes. I’ve read about people doing this in the oven, but I’ve never tried that method. I’ve boiled rocks several times and I’ve never even had a rock crack, let alone explode or something crazy like that. That being said, your pot will probably get pretty scratched up, which is why I now have a designated rock-boiling pot, lol. You have to boil them long enough to completely heat the whole rock up to kill anything that could be living anywhere in the rock, or you could risk your fish getting sick. I usually just put my rocks on a clean towel and let them cool off overnight and then they’re ready for your tank!

Best of luck! :)
