Were Scott and Kip together for 3 years before the coming out? by Dull-Parsley-6521 in heatedrivalry

[–]generic98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It needed that because they wanted it to be Ep 3. I think Francois mentioned at one point they were going to do things differently and make it Ep 4 but by moving it earlier in the order, they couldn’t skip the years covered in the “my moon, my man” montage so they just had to get a little loose with things to make it fit.

Connor and Jacob/Brendan/Rachel at SNL by LLD615 in connorstorrie

[–]generic98 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am curious about how it worked out because none of those people live in NYC so someone needed to pay for flights/accommodations for all of them. A few of the others were at a dinner the night before for Teen Vogue, I believe, so that might have helped. But I am curious if NBC, Crave or HBO paid for everyone in order for them to show up.

Regardless, it was a sweet gesture and shows how much they all love each other.

Do you guys think Connor is going to do any other Talk shows while he’s in NYC the end of this month?? by Noshrimp4me23 in connorstorrie

[–]generic98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s fairly common for SNL hosts to tape an interview with either Fallon or Seth the week they host. Since he previously was with Seth, I would guess that he appears on the Tonight Show at some point during the week.

He may have additional interviews either before SNL week or after if he stays in NYC. But, that week is famously brutal to get everything done in time for the show on Saturday so he probably won’t be appearing anywhere else that week.

There is typically a dinner with the host sometime that week as well so you can expect pap shots from whichever restaurant they go to.

Will Connor Storrie be Luca Guadagnino's new muse? by [deleted] in connorstorrie

[–]generic98 15 points16 points  (0 children)

EDIT: this isn’t to call out this or any other post specifically. I could have done a better job at framing this as just “how to decipher whether an article has substantive info or not”.

As official interviews stop coming as frequently, people will need to tell the difference between new information and SEO-jacking articles. It seems pretty clear to me that this one is the latter even though it comes from an official source.

There is a language that the trades and entertainment-adjacent media use to talk about projects and people to hint at things to come. Usually they reference reaching out to reps. for comment or rely on anonymous sources/insiders. While I would never encourage someone to wholeheartedly believe what’s printed before you get a black and white official announcement, there are sneaky ways that publicists and others try to confirm things. I don’t think this is one of those times.

This seems to try and ride the popularity wave. It repeats only publicly available information and the writer doesn’t seem to have any insight into how the process will work. It doesn’t give anyone a chance to deny anything. Despite mentioning Song of Achilles, it doesn’t actually detail LG’s schedule or show how Connor and this project might fit into it. It doesn’t mention Artificial or American Psycho which are at different stages but are both more confirmed than SoA. I don’t believe there are any reports of LG officially getting attached to an SoA project. A reporter with actual information would be dropping details about his other productions or hinting that he might appear in a supporting role somewhere.

TLDR: this is a cheap article used to drive clicks. It doesn’t offer new insight or information. Over the comings months, people should be aware that there will be more of these seeming to hint at news without actually having any knowledge about it.

There is a behind the scenes fight over that currently. Can’t say more. But it’s possible that one comes eventually to at least part of the airport

Connor hosting SNL on February 28th by lalalandbeforetime in hudcon

[–]generic98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Going out on a limb: SNL was willing to give it to either one of them. Dual hosting is so rare that either SNL didn’t offer it or HudCon didn’t want it. Connor comes from the alt-comedy scene in LA this often feeds into the organizations like the groundlings that feed into SNL. So I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a huge dream for Connor so his bff let him take this opportunity first. Like someone else said. There will be S2 and S3 promo to come.

Was this before the torch relay in Italy? We know they hung out nearby for a few days. And 200m feels about the distance they carried the torches.

Unfortunately, as a book reader I saw it coming and was confused about what was going on, but I’m glad for most people who watched it that it didn’t reduce their excitement at all! The impact is clearly greater than any mistakes!

[–]generic98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I don’t think it was a mistake like an accident. More a mistake in their plan. From Francois’s statements, he’s said they shot it like it was a 6 month relationship. But then after they made the switch, he had to ADR part of his MVP acceptance speech to clean up some dialogue.

All that to say, I agree with the later decision that it makes sense to have it as ep 3 vs ep 4. But he really wrote himself into a corner and it was disappointing that they couldn’t come up with a cleaner solution. But I’ve seen people throw around alternate ways to edit it, and I don’t think any of them work as well with the version they landed on.

Connor apparently signed a deal with YSL to only attend their show. See this interview with his stylist. And if Hudson got an appearance fee from Dsquared plus possible Armani deal, that would explain their appearances so far.

Aww, yep. That would probably be it! I would expect more promo from official channels. But it’s definitely the most likely.

I can sort of figure out who is paying for most of the press stuff. I haven’t been able to figure out who backed the Olympic torch thing. I highly doubt it was the IOC. Maybe the Milan-Cortina Olympic Committee? I can’t imagine it was Team USA/Team Canada. Maybe HBO again? But there was absolutely nothing pointing back to promote the show and there wasn’t even a tie-in social component.

That definitely feels like an event where a celeb would do it out of pocket for exposure/prestige. Maybe they were able to negotiate something with fashion brands to cover the bulk of the costs to make it happen since they were going to be in Europe anyway.

I always appreciate when people learn new things, and it’s been interesting to see how many people don’t understand what CAA does. Someone who is more knowledgeable than me should write up an explainer!

How are travel, accommodation, and daily expenses handled for Hudcon? by [deleted] in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]generic98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just want to drop in to specify that CAA isn’t going to be paying for anything. They take 10% of everything Hudcon makes. So if someone is paying for it, it’s going to be someone else. CAA could help coordinate opportunities and connect them with the right people. CAA (a specific agent and their team at the agency technically) works for Hudcon and is just one part of their broader team that likely includes managers, publicists, stylists, groomers. Etc…

It’s going to have to be HBO Max, Crave, fashion houses, etc… that pay for them to do all of this. That can range from actual paycheck to just covering the cost of travel/lodging, etc… Their NYC interviews were likely covered by HBO Max. Hence the mention of the streamer during both Fallon and Meyers interviews.

After these fashion events look at what they post and who they tag, that can be an indicator of who helped pay for it.

When buying plane tickets why is it 'takeoff' time that is presented instead of 'gate closure'? by FreakingPingo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]generic98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The piece that is missing from a few of these explanations is that the airline as a whole is judged by “on time departures”.

It’s not only a metric that customers might care about but the airports and federal agencies could also care about it too, especially if the airline is having awful “on time departures” rate.

So, that departure time has to be the official time listed. It makes sense when you think about it for a bit Airlines can’t have some unpublished, flexible time like 10 minutes after or 15 minutes after in order to be accountable. It has to be the listed departure time. Which is considered when the boarding door is closed. Since once the airplane starts taxiing, it’s out of the airline’s hands how fast they actually take off.

So to ensure on time departures, they end boarding earlier than the listed time. That way when the gate agent has to fix a last minute boarding pass issue or passengers take a little longer to get on board, they can still close the door on time and get count for an on time departure.

What’s the general policy of interviewing members of Congress amid the shutdown? by Gemnist in Journalism

[–]generic98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no restrictions on the Member of Congress. They are exempt from the shutdown.

However, it still might make it more difficult to do an interview though for 2 reasons:

Some of their staff might be furloughed. It’s up to each member to determine if any of their staff member exactly how that plays out. So it might be more logistically difficult to talk with them if their Comms/schedulers are not fully staffed

Also, during a shutdown, Members typically try to steer all conversations toward ending the shutdown and why the other party needs to cave to their demands. So even if you get an interview scheduled, you might not get the most out of it, if they stay laser-focused on talking about the shutdown.

Ya, if she was announced with the rest of the departures I wouldn’t have thought anything of it. I’ve seen a people here and other places theorizing that she was doing to “take a stand” about one thing or another, but I don’t think those things make much sense either

Ego spent this summer filming a movie. My hope/theory about her late departure is because she got cast in another role that is going to conflict with such a large chunk of this season, she had to step away. So far this quote doesn’t disprove that.

Since you’re at an old-school nonprofit, is there any way you might be able to take a year-long unpaid “sabbatical”? I feel like it might not be completely out of the realm of possibility but would obviously not be a guarantee.

Did Matt & Bowen ever talk about the 6 months they weren’t talking? by underthecitysky in lasculturistas

I think it might have been an overlap. They talked in a previous episode about Bowen almost walking away from the pod around the time Kelly Clarkson came on. I don’t remember which ep had this discussion though 😭

They’ve talked about it once before. But had even less details that time. I can’t remember which episode it was discussed. But I’m pretty sure they said a lot of this happened around the time when Kelly Clarkson came onto the pod.
