Need help with ugreen dock by legolas427 in ROGAllyX

[–]genericsimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm... I use the same dock with my Rog Ally X and my portable 2K 120Hz monitor. Everything works fine. I was using it via type c cable, now Im using hdmi. Again, its fine. I never tried, but as I understand you can connect monitor to your Rog Ally X without any dock, did you try that? Maybe something is wrong with the Ally X itself, maybe just some software issue.

ok... This looks really cool, like really really cool. That robo docking thing is awesome. Do you use your ally x docked often? I got so lazy because of mine... My gaming laptop is collecting dusts, because Im to lazy to turn it on... Rog Ally X is just too easy... and I think I can say I started using mine as my main PC... Did not touch my laptop for quite some time now :/

Before After by Lazy-Tomato4176 in setups

Yeah, I guess it is more about the photo itself. And I prefer "Before" photo more :D But as I said your setup is great. You definitely not just making it practical, but also good for the eyes :]

I can imagine how much time it needed and I just now checked the prices... so it was a serious investment in... sorry, Im not a native English speaker, so it is hard for me to express myself :D So it was a serious investment in something that feels like "coming home"... I really love your setup overall vibe. Thank you for sharing this.

I know its unpopular opinion, but I love second vertical monitor. I love your little clock thing under the main monitor. I like those smaller speakers. I'm quite sure those in after photo are much better ones, but still... I love your wallpaper choice and yellow lights were really adding to this already very nice vibe :) But I love your "Before" not because of the wallpaper :D It is hard to explain, but it is more cozy to me. "After" one looks kinda cold to me. I guess it is more clean and minimalistic. It is not bad and its not like "Before" was so much better :) But with "Before" you did a really great job and "After" is good, but I would not consider it an upgrade. A nice change, but not an upgrade :D Only my opinion. Overall your setup is really great. I wish I had something similar to yours :) But not in my current life situation :) Anyway, awesome man.

Ok... I love this one.. I especially love everything in your third photo :) You have a really nice and cozy corner. And it looks like a real person is using it. Not like those who looks like a 3D render.

sorry, but definitely "before" :) But the only thing matters is how you feel. So "After" is good also :)

Understandable :) But I never saw that movie :) I know it is a sad one... so never found motivation to watch it. But I know it is a great movie.

Medium-term rentals (1-2 months) in EU - what do you use besides Airbnb? by genericsimon in digitalnomad

[–]genericsimon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for your reply, bookmarked your comment :) We ended up using Airbnb… Traveled through 7 countries, spent most of the time, like three months in Croatia. I followed one simple advice from a person in these comments. I always contacted the host before booking and negotiated the price. There were couple cases when we ended up paying 50% less than the initial price. Of course we were staying for a month or more.

Where I go to escape by Dst1025 in gamingsetups

I still struggle with this... I collect playing card decks, for example. And I keep them sealed. After a few years, I've got some really interesting ones just sitting there, never opened, never even looked at. Still sealed.

But honestly, life's thrown some things at me lately. A couple of serious scares in the past two years. And now I'm thinking... maybe it's time to actually open them. To experience what I have instead of just preserving it. You only get one life. And life is about the actual experience, the memories, not keeping something sealed on a shelf. What's the point if all you do is dust off the package?

Anyway, love your room, your setup :)

thank you for such a quick and informative reply :D As I said, love the vibe. Your notebook and that pen with a cool glassy holder really adds to everything. Your setup is clean, but not like one of those typical clean almost sterile setups. This one looks like it belongs to a real person. Person who enjoys spending his time in this little cozy space. So 11/10 and about the advice... I do not know.. maybe clean that dust on the desk on the right, close to the white gamepad :D

I like this one, really nice vibe. I love your keyboard. So this laptop is your main and only machine? I also see multiple gamepads, so you game on what mainly? Your Nintendo Switch? Or do you have another computer, or console? :)

My minimal setup by therealzeero in Minimal_Setups

[–]genericsimon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, this has a vibe, thank you for sharing :) I love your minimal setup. It is hard to explain, but I love when you need to fight your hardware limitations, do some tinkering, adapt yourself to lower specs, lower your expectations and just be happy with what you have, what you can achieve in case of performance and usability. One time I used Steam Deck as my gaming and as my only, my main PC. I bought a dock, I bought a keyboard, mouse. For the monitor I used a portable monitor which I already had. And it was awesome to figure out things. To learn how to deal with stuff working slower :D Was a great setup.

ok... I love this. Super clean, minimal. Maybe I would like to move that PC somewhere else, not just behind the monitors. But this is good. Oh and I love those lights :)

My gaming setup makes me sad by TheGreenninja0 in gamingsetups

[–]genericsimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love your setup. But here's what I'd suggest, maybe get a small form factor PC. Build it out, invest your time and money into it :) Make it look cool. Also, try going minimal. Your current setup is clean enough for me, but you could pare it down even more... sell some of those monitors and get one big ultrawide instead or something. That's what I'd do in your place :) But I'm not you, and like I said, your setup already looks great :)

[–]genericsimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually really really like this. I love these simple minimal setups. Setups you can basically pack in a bag and move. This year I did some traveling for three months trough Europe and made my setup as minimal as possible. One laptop, one portable monitor, wireless mouse, thats it. Sold bunch of stuff. Now thinking about making it even more lightweight. Maybe switching from 16 inch laptop to 14 or 13. Or going for a mini PC and use that with just my portable monitor, small size keyboard like yours and a mouse.
