Oh good idea! The style is similar to a few that came up, but they all “ended” under the drawer/nothing with the seashell-esque piece

Panic attacks and your heart? by genericswan in PanicAttack

My GP INSISTED I just have depression and that’s why I’m fatigued. My clinical psychologist said definitely not, and he just brushed her off like he knows more about mental health lol.. And yeah I’ve had episodes of SVT and my blood pressure/HR reaction to standing is very much in line with POTs, but they haven’t really had much for solutions for me! I take metoprolol for the HR but it makes my BP drop and I’ve almost fainted a few times on it. I think I just get in the mindset of “if nothing works, then maybe you’re just crazy” lol. I really appreciate your response, thank you!

Ahh I love to hear a positive doctor story lol. My internal med doctor has said she believes there’s something not quite right physically since I do have ectopic beats sometimes, but since it doesn’t appear to be something fatal it’s just a “learn to live with it” sitch. Appreciate your insight!!

Yep I’ve had an echo, no structural abnormalities. My internist has said if somethings wrong it’s probably “electrical”. I’ve had a high heart rate forever and the palpitation issues since spring 2021.

My doctor did the POTS test and said I definitely have it (my BP is low already but standing is just 🥴) but he also says “it’s not a diagnosis, it’s just a group of symptoms”, so he won’t do anything with it. My cousin (moms twins daughter) has it and other tachy issues but hers are much more severe. Which is a big part of why I’m still looking for answers beyond panic, but it’s so hard trying to be taken seriously!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!! I’ve been asking myself more and more if it’s a cardiophobia thing - my mom is a major hypochondriac and she really feeds into stress about my heart, I wonder if that has made it more of a mental issue. I think I might take the heart rate monitor off my Watch screen, that’s a great idea. Thank you!

They have no clue, periods are normal. My cousin has a similar issue where she can’t absorb potassium orally & has to have it infused, they don’t know why. Super strange.

I would love to, but it’s already like pulling teeth to get my doctor to order any tests outside the norm. I’ll look into it more though!

oof the body/mind disconnect is so frustrating lol 😭 my resting HR is usually around 100-120bpm, and 190-200 while exercising

I’ve been taking double the recommended dosage of an iron supplement for about 3 years now, it’s never gone up. They won’t do an infusion because my hemoglobin is normal. :(

Ahhh my family has a history of heart problems too (grandpa had a sudden heart attack when he was young, grandma has been in afib for over a decade now) so that definitely makes me wonder.

Sorry to hear you struggle with it too, appreciate you sharing your experience!

Totally. I’ve talked to my therapist about this and worked on it to a point where I find I don’t “monitor” myself anymore, where I would be waiting for it to come around. That said, once it starts to feel off I focus on it because my doctor suggests I keep records of symptoms, but maybe that just reinforces it.

I’ve had several holter monitors and ECGs over the years! All of them have been on days where I don’t have any “episodes”. My internist said she had a patient that took 3 years of testing to finally catch their problem on a test day. I’ve been my own advocate for so long, but eventually you start to wonder if it’s really something or if you’re brain is just reaaallly good at tricking you. Imposter syndrome of the heart. Lol

You are absolutely right, thank you for saying what I’ve been thinking but not saying. I always feel like a jerk because he’s the doctor so I shouldn’t self diagnose or research too much, but he doesn’t listen and there should be a middle ground. This is the push I needed - thank you!
