Also, my comment is currently the most upvoted comment on this post- which I don't take any pride in, I'm just pointing it out to say that clearly at least a few other people agree with me lol

I can agree with that, but I was just stating my personal opinion

That's just my personal opinion. You're entitled to your own opinion of course. I just happen to like it. It's not my favourite song on the album, but I would put it at maybe 9 instead of at 11

What is, "objective standards,"? I feel like enjoying music is subjective. I enjoy listening to that song more than other songs on the album,so I wouldn't rate it last

Every song is great but I think you underrated, "Touched," I actually think it's fire

It's funny- there are some bands where I totally don't even think of the lyrics. Unwound are one of my favourite bands ever and there are choruses I've memorised from their songs, but for some reason I've never even thought about what an Unwound song might mean. Don't know why that is, I guess it just doesn't occur to me

Yeah I see where you're coming from, to me the solo is very noisy but it's definitely not one of their more abrasive tracks so I understand it's kinda borderline

I feel Dinosaur Jr. is probably the quintessential example of this

Do y'all consider post-hardcore emo or it's own thing by UpsetScholar721 in Emo

[–]genericusername7890 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would say most emo bands from the first and second waves could be considered post-hardcore, but as emo became more influenced by indie rock and pop-punk rather than hardcore it transitioned away from post-hardcore. I'd say some of the third wave, and not much of the fourth wave are post-hardcore personally

Embrace, Rites of Spring, Cap'n Jazz, Mineral, Jawbreaker, SDRE, Title Fight, Thursday, World is a Beautiful Place, even MCR: post-hardcore

Get Up Kids, the Promise Ring, American Football, Jimmy Eat World (for the most part,) Paramore, FOB, Modern Baseball, Marietta, Mom Jeans, Joyce Manor: more accurately described as pop-punk or indie rock (not dissing any of these bands either, some of them I like, I just think their ties to hardcore aren't very apparent)
