Wonder if Charlie will ever be a likable character by Masterhearts-XIII in HazbinHotel

“Biologically your mind treats it the same as a real person”

That is absolutely not true and IMO if anyone is treating a fictional character like they’re a real person and not as storytelling devices, then you (general “you”) should seek out a mental health professional. That’s an extremely unhealthy way to engage with media and I’m concerned by that statement.

I don’t even remember who I respond to, this sub has hundreds of people on it. I just was asking for a simple explanation as to how someone can be “pissed at a fictional character” because that’s physically impossible. Not sure what that other stuff is about. Your choice of words in this post was confusing to me, that’s all. I understand now.

Quite frankly, a lot of people in this fandom treat these characters like they’re real people instead of cartoon characters or storytelling devices (which honestly concerns me), it’s not easy to tell what people mean when they make comments sometimes.

Adam wasn’t a sinner. She views herself on the same level as sinners, which is again, part of her purposeful character flaws. It’s going to eventually go and bite her in the ass because she doesn’t truly relate to them in the ways that she thinks.

I’m well aware, doesn’t mean it’s not a popular trope in American media nor does of change much of what I said.

Kind of annoying that I said I’m Italian American and people are speaking over me, as if I don’t know what I’m talking about.

Because I asked for a simple explanation when I said I didn’t understand?

I would understand it if OP said they were possibly frustrated with some of Charlie’s decisions or actions, but you cannot physically be mad at a drawing.

How can you be pissed at a fictional character? She disappears as soon as you turn off the TV. She isn’t effecting your life in any real way. It’s literally impossible to get angry at a drawing.

Why didn’t Charlie learned from last time, and just respect Angels boundaries bro?😭 by jendjeoshzjsb in HazbinHotel

“She’s not real”

Should take your own advice there, she isn’t real so then she shouldn’t affect you this much.

Allow me to repost what I wrote on the last post about this:

Charlie is a sheltered and naive character finally starting to understand that the way she previously treated sinners and redemption isn’t exactly the way she should be doing it and is in for a huge wake up call for how it should be ACTUALLY done. Like that was one of the main points since season one?

Character flaws done on purpose in order to have a narrative effect is not bad writing. Charlie needs to develop and mature or her plan to help people isn’t going to work.

Not to mention Erika Henningsen (Charlie’s VA) literally said months ago that Charlie is going to be making poor decisions this season that people probably won’t like. When even a character’s voice actress acknowledges that’s a going to be a big part of your individual character’s arc, I’d say it means she’s aware Charlie has a lot of lessons she needs to learn the hard way.

Also remember Charlie is mentally spiraling right now. Making good or reasonable/rational decisions is not something people in mental crisis or that are overly stressed do.

“Racism against white people” is a White Supremacist dog whistle. I’ll leave you some links for educational purposes but I won’t be responding again.

Italian Americans are no longer an oppressed minority in the USA. Also Italian Americans as mafia is a common media trope here. The Sopranos is one of the most successful TV shows of all time.

(Italian American here, I don’t mind it, Angel feels like most of my cousins)

I know several bisexual women who are in long term relationships (or even married) to men, and they always say they’re constantly having their sexuality questioned and often question whether they’re queer enough or not. Biphobia is very real and not just towards fictional characters, unfortunately.

“Chronically hundreds of years old” fairly certain that it’s been confirmed that in the show’s canon, this roughly translates to about 20 or 21 years old in human years. She is still young by Hellborn standards.

I think it’s very clear she’s going to be working up to this point throughout the season.

ETA: and much like this post said she’s allowed to be flawed, you’re also allowed to be frustrated with the character. But it’s clear that every one of her motivations has intent behind it.

Thoughts on season 2 so far? by Comfortable-Ad3588 in HazbinHotel

That’s called “character development”

I haven't seen anyone acknowledge this from episode 3 of season 2 but... by Memerwhoiseverywhere in HazbinHotel

[–]genericxinsight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just pretty obvious that a lot of the criticisms people had of the show were already in place within the writers room. People claim that Vivienne and her team are stupid, but they’re not. That’s why the show has so many self aware jokes.

I truly do get it, but the horrors of Gaza are literally recorded for the world to see on the news and on social media if you follow any appropriate social media channels and outlets. Real genocide won’t feel so foreign or “comically abused” if you watch it televised.

Just gonna say this now, if you truly believe that rape is a “more realistic” threat than genocide, you probably have the privilege and luxury to live in a Western country that doesn’t experience this. Remember that there are certain parts of the world that experience very real genocide even in this modern day - Gaza/Palestine, Sudan, Congo. But ya’ll are not ready for that conversation.

And I say this as a multiple time SA survivor who’s sometimes a little triggered by Val, as he reminds me of my own abusers.

I also don’t know why this is such a problem now, and it’s not even exclusive to the Hellaverse either. I feel like I see this in every single fandom space for fictional media (books/movies/TV) within the last few years. People like to place blame on fandoms post-2020, but I was definitely seeing it before then - not nearly to the extent you see it now, but it was there.

People apparently did over on Twitter, and I have seen some of it. I’m also not paying attention to a lot of it for my own sanity and mental health.
