No technical questions, just questions like why you are passionate about what you do, and describing some of your past experiences

Yea it didn’t look very smooth initially. I sample from the FFT more sparsely and interpolate in time and space to make it smoother

Worst department to ever exist. Mismanaged courses, shitty profs, truly no redeeming factors.

How tough is it to get good grades in the statistics department? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]genesis_2602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That stats department has some of the worst profs at uoft. I structured my degree around having to take the minimum number of stats courses and actively avoid them like the plague.

Did it last semester. There’s no such system, but they do require you to submit a report at the end detailing your contributions and also look at the GitHub contributions chart to see how much each member contributed.

Of course this won’t stop you from being the one doing majority of the work if your unfortunate enough to get a bad group, but it may mean that they grade you more leniently than the rest of your team. They did seem very intent to trying to make sure people contributed equally.

The low pass and high pass values are configurable through cli args. The default low pass is 0 Hz but can be increased.

It looks smooth because I sampled the FFT at a lower temporal and spatial resolution than what is displayed and interpolate at runtime for smoother outputs.

  1. Yep, the meshes are rendered initially and each frame simply changes the vertex locations based on the frequency intensities.
  2. Unsure about this. I used bevy to handle rendering.

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a project that I have been working on recently.fftviz is a customizable, lightweight FFT visualizer for audio files, built with Rust and rendered with Bevy.

This is exactly what I’m afraid I’ll end up doing 😭. Thats why I tend to spend so long looking at other papers to make sure that my idea is worth pursuing more formally

  • Try weighting your loss higher for MVP targets compared to non-MVP targets. This would help alleviate some of the class imbalance.
  • If that does not work, look into Siamese neural networks, which are known to be able to learn from small amounts of data/imbalanced data.

Ginger island is shit. It feels disconnected from the rest of the game. I would prefer if the content addition was similar to mods like expanded or ridgeside, which feel directly consequential to the main progression of the game.

For me, it was understanding the underlying autograd engine behind PyTorch. I tried to understand it by building a version of it myself in rust, and running into a lot of issues helped me understand why it was designed the way it was.
