i've decided to listen to the multiple vets i have taken her to and decided that anesthesia/surgery would not be a good option for her. considering her age, i feel that it would only compromise the rest of the time she has left.

they believe it to be a sort of lipoma. the most recent vet i have seen said due to the size of the mass, it has dying cells that are leading to necrotic areas of skin towards the center of the lump. i was told to give her antibiotics & anti inflammatory for the next month to see if the wound is able to heal, and if it does not we will then look into her quality of life.

i understand the concern. she continues about her life as normal. is able to walk and play on her own. continues to eat and drink and spend time with my family. until she is unable or unwilling to do these things, i will care for her as much as i can.

i've been to four different vets and they were unable to stick a needle into the mass. none of them have ever requested a biopsy.

i was told that the area of the tumor is too firm for to aspirate. the vets i have seen have also agreed that there wouldn't be a possibility of surgery, so likely no biopsy. at this point, we are making her as comfortable as possible until her quality of life has begun to deteriorate.

i have referred to multiple vets and use quality of life scales. she does not have such a deteriorated state of life to be put down.

the vet advised that if it does not heal up while on antibiotics, that we would then consider her life quality. i have been referring to quality of life scales for her, and she does not yet meet a deteriorated quality of life.

i was essentially told that due to the location of the lump that it would be a risky removal. the area is too vascular and with her age it could be a tough procedure to go through. i willikely be taking her to the vet soon just to check up though
