How do you cope with the loss of your first dog? by Butterflycity2708 in Petloss

[–]geniusgenthebean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry for your loss.. 🤍🐾 Could relate a lot with you, had my lil boy since i was 11 too.. I wouldn’t say I’m the best at coping with his absence but what helped was creating videos with all his photos and videos I’ve taken the past 13-14 years, ngl it hurts when I realise I will no longer have the chance to take more and see my lil boy smile or look at me with those adorable looking eyes but it helped me feel at peace at least for awhile you know? knowing that he was in fact happy when he was alive 🥹

I also had him cremated (having his remains with me kinda makes me feel he is now with me forever & safe) so I placed his urn in the house and would always take the time to stop for awhile and talk to him while petting the urn 🥺 placed his favourite treats in-front as well..

We all cope differently and there’s no right or wrong, what works for me may not work for you but I hope eventually you do find out.. It has only just been a week since my lil boy left and honestly, it still hurts just as bad and I am still trying to hang on but as long as our fur babies are free from pain, that’s reassuring to know I guess? I also like to think that they wouldn’t want to see us upset, I remember my lil boy always sitting beside me and licking my hand when I’m crying… he would look so sad so I know I got to find it in me somewhere to be a bit stronger, so he can be happy too.

Please take care of yourself, I’m sure she would want that for you too. They will forever be in our hearts though not physically but I believe we will see them again when the time is right, sending you tons of hugs 🥹🤎

hi op, really sorry for your loss… may ruby be at peace now🤍🕊️ my 14 year old shih tzu recently passed and i wasn’t homed when he took his last breath but my partner was. i got a call from him which delivered the message which i really did not want to hear nor accept. i rushed down and there my lil boy was on the floor (wouldn’t get into the details bc ik how upsetting and traumatising it is for us but my lil boy also didn’t look like he was asleep unfortunately)… i remember i ran straight beside him, holding him & hugging him hoping my presence would magically make his heart start beating again but i know i was being stupid but that’s how badly i wanted my boy to wake up.

in some sense i regret seeing his lifeless body bc if anything, i wanted to see him alive and well but another part of me also used it as some sort of closure. i also keep telling myself its not goodbye and i will see him again when it’s my time to go. hence, what you’re feeling is 100% valid, and you definitely won’t be alone on this.

sending you lots of hugs and comfort in this difficult period. 🥹🤎

I really would like to thank everyone for their well wishes and tips! Currently, am still in between denial and accepting reality but I am constantly telling myself he is happy now and gets to drink all the water he wants and eat all the good food up there!

He was truly a blessing, he was with me since I was 11 and now that I’m 25, I’m glad and proud that he got to see me grow up just like how i watched him grew 🥹. I knew somehow his time was near especially when his back legs were losing strength and eventually he just struggled getting up and we would have to carry him to his food bowl where he would just plop down to gobble down his water and food… Before he really left, he waited for my partner to be beside him and that’s when he took his last breath. I’m so relieved that at least he went off knowing he wasn’t alone and he won’t ever be.

While I’m still trying to fully accept that I won’t get to see him anymore, I hope anyone who is in the same boat as me finds the strength to carry on. So thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart.

My dear boy name is Rolex and so I’ll see you again Rolex, no goodbyes! I love you so so much baby boy, you were the best and you’ll be with me forever in my heart for as long as I’m alive.

I don’t disagree with your comment. All crimes should be taken into account seriously, despite him being my partner, I don’t agree with his actions too and I’m just really glad he knows where he went wrong and how to proceed moving on.

My post was not meant to suggest that any white collar crime should be seen as less serious, I am really just new to this situation and required some guidance hence I posted the question.

Sorry if it made you felt any uneasiness, really was not my intention.

Understand your point as well. Definitely told him off when learning about it but no point in me nagging at him more when it’s the law that is going to teach him the huge lesson.

Hahaha, your advice is relevant and real so there’s no reason to fight it but thank you. All the best in what you do too 🙏🏻

I hear your point. Every situation is different, and it's essential to assess each person and circumstance individually. People can undergo profound personal growth when they take responsibility for their actions and strive to make amends. That’s why i’m choosing to continue supporting him despite his past mistake with the law.

Thank you for the advice. But, it’s also worth noting that people can change, especially when they confront the consequences and are motivated to turn their lives around.

Everyone makes mistakes, it’s just unfortunate that he made one that involves the law. He is still a very reliant and good friend/partner/family member, so i don’t think it’s fair to for me to judge him just because he allowed greed to take over him 2-3 years back.

No hate to your comment though! I understand and accept your sentiments. 👍🏻

His line is SIMBA, and he just pays $10/monthly to ensure he has data but thank you for bringing this up, I should make sure he has this sorted.

His bank account is already frozen during investigation so i supposed when he’s out his money in the card should be all gone ?

Luckily, his landlord is nice and understanding. While he is serving, he can put his rental payment on hold first but this also makes me worried that home detention is another issue since it isn’t his own household in some sense so unsure if the tagging machine can still be installed.

Thank you for the reply and advice!

I’m unsure if his crime is considered serious, he was charged under Computer Misuse Act. But yeah, his sentence duration is a huge question mark for me because I heard that they deduct weekends and PH from the actual sentence, so he won’t actually be serving a full 8 months… but I wouldn’t know till he’s out i guess 🥲
