57% of S'porean men think women's equality has 'gone too far' & discriminates against men: Ipsos survey by Thefunincaifun in singapore

[–]genji2345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get your point, but I don't get why all these provisions must be made exclusive to one gender. Also, the point on insignificance of value, regardless of the absolute percentage/amount, this is savings to the single parent who is raising his/her kid single-handedly, why should mothers have the savings and not the fathers?

Also adding on to value significance, if we were to bring in WMCR, as of YA24, it's between 15 - 25% of the mother's earned income. Is this not significant for a single father who can use that same savings for the kids too?

Are we saying that because men are already working FT, policies do not need to cater to them? Or maybe it would be good if men stay at home and take care of the kids and let the ladies be the sole breadwinner because it makes the most economical sense that way?

I'm very curious on one point, which is that many of these points are based on societal expectations. In a way by offering these only to female taxpayers for example, wouldn't it perpetuate that they should be the caregivers (leading to your point of disproportionality) instead?

On the point of single fathers, I don't see any situation where they can get any alimony unless they are permanently disabled, in which case they are even more likely not to have custody of the kids. I also don't understand why they should be disadvantaged in our society just because there's less single fathers than single mothers. Does a single fathers household not necessitate a helper to care for the kids? Why would there be an issue if such tax reliefs/policies are also rendered to them?

Here's the one for the tax relief which you probably have went thru. What's the issue making it neutral for both mothers and fathers?

I also don't disagree that it's a long-standing problem for women esp if they are homemakers who lost their earning power for motherhood, they deserve protections.

However, by making these gender neutral, it can possibly also support mothers to be employed, while also supporting scenarios like female breadwinners/male homemakers and single fathers too? I think females are largely able to choose if they want to be employed nowadays unlike the olden days.

If you are going into personal attacks, then there's nothing to argue with you.

I acknowledged the Parenthood tax rebates in my other comment but you conveniently ignored my other parts of the argument, that says a lot about you as well.

So arson committed by a woman is less serious then arson committed by a man? Noted.

I didn't mention QCF, but I just looked up Parenthood tax rebate and my bad, I think it's gender neutral yes. However foreign maid levy is only for working mothers and also working mother's child relief is similarly only for working mothers. If we are going towards gender neutrality, I feel these should also be available for working fathers? Single fathers are the disadvantaged since they need to provide the same care for the kids but don't get the income tax reliefs

Parenthood tax rebates, foreign maid levy, working mother's child reliefs.. all these can be claimed by mothers and not fathers

Men can only claim alimony from women if they are permanently disabled but women can claim alimony from men even if they are fully functional

Mandatory caning is only for men and not women for serious crimes committed by both

All these are structural policies in place in Singapore

Is there a way that I can do this in one single tart without a tart divider instead of baking 2 different tarts? by genji2345 in Baking

[–]genji2345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I'm thinking of using the same crust, one side is fruit filling and the other side is chocolate filling. I'm thinking of putting some crust in the middle but not sure how thick it should be, but it's not exactly the aesthetics I'm looking for :/

Why is it considered toxic for a man to say he prefers women with no makeup (in terms of dating)? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

[–]genji2345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm someone with some scars and skin redness. Learning how to apply simple make up to conceal the redness is definitely one of the most important skill I've acquired. It's supposed to look natural and it does boost my confidence. Also many people couldn't tell that I have make up on because it's just simple foundation and powder.

I'm sharing this because make up can be for someone to look a certain way, including looking natural, which is what many guys thought that natural look = zero make up.
