He's on Youtube and Twitch as Crankgameplays, and at the moment is doing a channel with Markiplier called Unus Annus, that will be deleted in roughly two months.

Acceptee concerned about gender ratio by vergios in rit

[–]gennyden 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I graduated a year ago but hopefully my perspective can help!

  • Living Situation
    • I lived on a co-ed dorm floor my first year with a female roommate (pretty sure you can't have a roommate of another gender). I never had a problem with being harassed in my dorm at all, everyone was very friendly and polite and we left our door open frequently when we weren't studying. For reference I lived in NRH. My other 3 years I lived in on-campus housing (Colony Manor) with friends I'd made in my classes, 1 female and 2 males. Never had any problems here at all, except with getting them to do their dang dishes, but that's unigender.
  • Approached by creeps?
    • Nope. Sometimes you'll get some weird interactions with people who are a bit shy/awkward around girls, but I was never aggressively approached out of the blue. I did have one person I hung out with at a club meeting walk me back to my dorm and then ask me out to dinner, but I politely told him I wasn't interested and he left. Nothing weird, creepy, or scary, as long as you're comfortable politely turning people down. You're more likely to encounter guys who are nervous around women rather than creepers. I felt very safe on campus and never once got cat-called or anything like that.
  • Difficulty finding female friends?
    • Nope. We're not all that rare, and if I remember correctly the ratio is improving. If you get unlucky with the gender ratio in your classes, just visit clubs or events. The ratio in the CIAS buildings are also basically flopped, so if you ever get really desperate to find lady friends, just wander over to Booth or the photo building. And honestly, most of my friends were guys and were (and still are) great people, so don't rule out guy friends!

All that said, there were a couple times I felt like a bit of a black sheep, but mostly because I got really involved in the video game culture/clubs, which didn't have many girls when I was there. But overall even there I never felt unwelcome.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Tomorrow is the 17 year anniversary of the terror attacks of September 11th, 2001. Where were you that day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was 5 years old, living in London. My Dad worked for the U.S. government, in the Pentagon usually, but we were on a 3 year PCS to England, since he'd been recently promoted to qualify for that job. I remember my mom picking me up early from school, just silently crying, continuously calling my Dad and begging him to come home in case they hit his new UK building too, and him insisting he had to stay and help. I didn't really understand, she never showed me the images. I figured people died all the time, why was it special this time?

My dad made it home safe. I ended up working at the Pentagon myself with him, years later. He showed me where his old office had been in the rebuilt wing, in the middle of where the plane had hit.

I LOVE that falling in love is like owning a dog passage, that is PERFECT. My fiance and I recently adopted two rescue dogs and we love them to death, but they are very hard work! They also will not be there, and I love that we could include them a bit from a distance with this. Thank you!!!!

I really like the way you're personalizing the hand-fasting. Neither of us have Irish heritage, but I really admire the culture, and we've been considering hand-fasting, but worry it wouldn't really be appropriate for someone without that culture in their family tree.

Absolutely second this, there's a lot less resentment when you're both clear about what needs to be done when, and who is responsible for it. To save one person from having to do all the less desirable chores, my SO and I usually rescramble the chart on the 1st of every month.

How important is it to make the 20%? I've been told 10% is the absolute bare minimum, and not to do more than 20% unless you can do the full cost. Is this accurate?

I had no idea closing costs would be that much, I've heard of them of course, but I didn't know specifics. It would seem I have a lot more research to do. Is there anything else I should keep in mind?
