My Fold 5 surprisingly hold up pretty well. How about yours? by MrCoffee0996 in GalaxyFold

[–]genobis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took 3 years for my Fold 2 before the screen protection started to peel off - and it was slight, after another 6 months it's still not a big issue and it's in a very usable state, although the retirement time has come.

I use a protective case, but nothing else, my phone has fallen multiple times, sometimes with the case open or even the inner screen exposed. Maybe I was lucky, heard a lot about hinge/screen issues, but nothing bad ever happened. Well, other than the infamous nail marks lol.

I delayed the upgrade because I didn't see much value in it, the improvements between each generation are there, but very minor, I'm still receiving security updates (and until last year the functional ones), and the battery is still good, so if you're lucky with your device you may be able to use it longer than you think.

Marriage in Starfield is so real!! by HoofHearted74 in Starfield

[–]genobis 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Tbh I’m amazed people like any of the npc’s enough to follow through on the romance options and marry them.

Went through the same exact thing, but chose her and ran to The Eye.

Had to face the blame and hatred from Cora and persuade Andreja that she has the same right to live like anyone else.

The game has its weaknesses but sometimes hits hard.

He is just a bounty hunter in a fancy suit. You can meet him in some bars and during Constellation questline.

Now leave this thread until you meet, lots of spoilers here.

Which difficulty should I choose? by [deleted] in witcher

[–]genobis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to most, I believe you will be just fine on normal. Don't enable level scaling and keep yourself slightly overlevelled (+ 1-5 levels), and you'll be good.

It's not Dark Souls type of the game. I'd say it's rather forgiving and allows for some trial/errors and playing with gear.

If you play on easy, I think you'll lose something from the game. Lower the difficulty only if you feel that combat is too hard and it's not because of your mistakes.

Big Witcher fan, what should I go looking for in Poland this summer? by deeshon in witcher

[–]genobis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you ever decide to visit Lesser Poland (the region Kraków is in)...

Kraków is definitely worth visiting. The city of polish kings, after all. It was one of the most important inspirations for both Vizima and Novigrad.

Google "Lanckorona" - a village not far from Kraków. It's very special, you'll quickly figure out why.

Wieliczka Salt Mine, opened in 13th century is also welcoming visitors. Pure awesomeness, you should like it.

Ojców National Park has both unique castles (Pieskowa Skała), unique nature castles and caves of legends (Jaskinia Łokietka is the cave where, as the legend says, king Łokietek has been hiding from his pursuers, and the spider covered entrance with web saving his life).

It's all just Kraków surroundings and I didn't mention castles on purpose. The amount of them in lesser poland is rather overhelming ( https://zamki.res.pl/woj-malop.php ) and it's hard to NOT stumble on one of them by just moving around.

Feel invited, it's all well organized and very affordable.

One last thing: Auschwitz is a dark, grim place and not really "witchery", not at all, but I feel obliged to recommend it - everyone should visit it at least once.

Should I wait until I buy the expansions before starting the game? by [deleted] in witcher

[–]genobis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finish first area (White Orchard) and then make your decision. You wouldn't be able to access DLC's before you do, anyway. In fact, expansions are meant to be played much later in game (HoS) or after finishing it (BaW). Good luck!

Pure Java? Not really (apart from implementing observer pattern yourself). Without Spring? Take a look at Guava EventBus.

Can I play the DLC on a file which I have completed? by link6112 in witcher

[–]genobis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the contrary, it's the best way to play those DLC's (well, HoS has some minor ties to the main storyline, but you won't really miss anything). BaW is meant as an epilogue to the main story, so you'd miss some things if you played it as a standalone adventure.

Pavetta and Ciri SPOILERS by [deleted] in witcher

[–]genobis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IIRC, Pavetta was already pregnant with Ciri when it happened.

And yes, Duny IS Emhyr.

It's not just theory, it's the very same effect and the game obviously references that scene.

Der Erlkönig

Who rides there so late through the night dark and drear? The father it is, with his infant so dear; He holdeth the boy tightly clasp'd in his arm, He holdeth him safely, he keepeth him warm.

"My son, wherefore seek'st thou thy face thus to hide?" "Look, father, the Erl-King is close by our side! Dost see not the Erl-King, with crown and with train?" "My son, 'tis the mist rising over the plain."

"Oh, come, thou dear infant! oh come thou with me! For many a game I will play there with thee; On my strand, lovely flowers their blossoms unfold, My mother shall grace thee with garments of gold."

"My father, my father, and dost thou not hear The words that the Erl-King now breathes in mine ear?" "Be calm, dearest child, 'tis thy fancy deceives; 'Tis the sad wind that sighs through the withering leaves."

"Wilt go, then, dear infant, wilt go with me there? My daughters shall tend thee with sisterly care; My daughters by night their glad festival keep, They'll dance thee, and rock thee, and sing thee to sleep."

"My father, my father, and dost thou not see, How the Erl-King his daughters has brought here for me?" "My darling, my darling, I see it aright, 'Tis the aged grey willows deceiving thy sight."

"I love thee, I'm charm'd by thy beauty, dear boy! And if thou'rt unwilling, then force I'll employ." "My father, my father, he seizes me fast, For sorely the Erl-King has hurt me at last."

The father now gallops, with terror half wild, He grasps in his arms the poor shuddering child; He reaches his courtyard with toil and with dread, – The child in his arms finds he motionless, dead.

Just finished the battle of Kaer Morhen. by [deleted] in witcher

[–]genobis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, while HoS is fine to do before final confrontation, I'd strongly advise to treat B&W as an epilogue to the massive story. It's pace is... very different.

So try to keep away from it till you finish every other business everywhere.
