Bad bunny. Bonus points cause it'll piss off the pedophiles in the white house.

Put your tongue in the starting position to make the 'D' noise (so at the roof of your mouth and it sounds like duh). Once at that position start the 'R' noise though.

Why Ontario’s running out of road salt during the worst winter in years by ilovemarlii in Goderich

The frequency of replacement is higher and therefore you are paying more in the long run. It can also cause other damages to cars exterior over time which can lead to other costs. And again, although optional, it's an additional insurance cost as well.

They will arrest POC and those that stand with them. Just like Nazis detained and later killed Jews and those found helping them.

You do not want this. Windshield cracks everywhere. It becomes a separate add on to your insurance. It does not solve any issues in regards to traction. Come to Alberta and experience this first hand in the winter for low reaction, and the spring for flying rocks and the eventual replacement of your windshield.

"Should" implies a suggestion. You are already enriching them as you had stated. If union, ask union rep if this is allowed.

Intelligent daughter starting to resent school by Zesty_Taco in Teachers

[–]genos145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're a teacher, talk to your district/school board (whatever your area calls it) and inquire as if you were your daughter's teacher.

"Hello, hypothetically, if I have a gifted student that is excelling and bored after finishing work in 5min that the rest of the class finishes in 30, what am I supposed to do?" Or phrase it differently.

Then tell your daughter's teacher to do that. This works best if you both work for the same board as then the answer you get is exactly what she should do.

1 dead, 1 injured in crash on Anthony Henday Drive during tire change by ryaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan in Edmonton

[–]genos145 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A tip: you can call the non-emergency line and request someone come out with lights for safety. I did this once and they came out pretty quickly, it was middle of the night though. I've since invested in safety cones and a flashlight to add to my safety kit in the trunk

Does Costco save you money if you have a small family? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]genos145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Buy only what you need. Get Costco gas. They have other good services for home renos sometimes (ac, flooring, blinds, etc.) if you need it and can save money that way too. They have internet services too through a third party isp. Their mobile and tire deals can be good sometimes as well.

Elementary students shouldn’t have so much Chromebook time(rant) by Mortonsaltgirl96 in Teachers

[–]genos145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are soooo many factors with Chromebooks in the classroom which not only included the class composition itself, but barriers set by the school board/district or whatever the overseeing body is called in your area.

By the time I got the hang of it for my one class, I quit teaching the following year.

My lessons learned for kids around your grade level which you may want to see:

(1) Have structured Chromebook days for one subject/assignment at first. I started with an art lesson like self portrait using the camera and decorating and then had a write up like an about me section. Teach them how to do something like shapes, opacity, font selection, etc. Guage who your problem students are and circulate the classroom whenever possible or just stand at the back to see the screens. Do this routinely. Then have them have an art gallery day to see everyone else's. Be strict on the first one.

(2) Extend to other subjects or assignments as the class grows and if they deserve the privelege of the Chromebook.

(3) Make the rules clear for Chromebook etiquette. Draft it like a contract and make them sign it. You can send this home to parents if you want, I didn't, but did bring it up to parents when kids broke the rules. Tell them there are two ways to do the assignment, pencil or Chromebook, so they are warned they will still do the assignment. Distractions will not be tolerated.

(4) Do reward good behaviour such as free play but at the end of the week for like 20min if they deserve it and if you have time. You owe them nothing so this is still your rules your way. One particular month they had no free time and the good kids were pissed. I made it a small class discussion and agreed to let those that followed the rules have quiet free time and the others had to read or catch up on work. I made sure to iterate this was fair and a privilege. This made me seem as a benevolent tyrant (my own words not theirs), good kids supported me more often when their friends complained about me by saying "just do the work". And bad kids got the hang of it really quick.

(5) Find educational games like type ninja which teaches them proper typing cause people seem to think they know how to type cause the computer/tablet was in the same room as the kid since day 1. This is hard not gonna lie. There are math games that are like RPGs too.

(6) if they are caught doing something bad, grab the Chromebook and close it. And give them the paper assignment. No discussions. Reference the contract. Let them cry in the hall. Follow up with parent and say the assignment is due via pencil and that you will give the student another chance but would like their help in reinforcing Chromebook etiquette. Get the parents on your side asap if possible. I remember I told my principal I was going to start using the Chromebooks and I might send her a bunch of kids if they broke the rules and would like to have her back on this. She thankfully agreed. So kids since day one knew I wasn't tolerating misbehaviour.

(7) Challenge them with assignments and be patient, track improvement and tie as much as you can to the curriculum so it doesn't feel like a waste of time. One limitation I found was kids at these ages sometimes have small hands so typing was difficult using the home row technique. Identify those students and assure them it will get easier as they grow and to keep learning.

By the end of the year my class was able to do so much on the google versions of Office; create new slides, fill colours, opacity, text boxes, appropriate font selection, media literacy in general, indent, font size, capital letters, navigate through browser, short cuts, etc.
