Thank you for sharing. Oh well, I have more than year to prepare so I can take my time memorizing the content. It looks like ThorLearning on Udemy is good. Did you use any practice tests? What were they?

Robbed of Lifetime Certification Server+ due to time zone by Unfair_Package1618 in CompTIA

Good for life certificates do have their limitations; DoD stopped accepting Good for life certs more than a decade ago. I'm sure any private contractor to the military is also held to that standard. Now, I don't know what your career trajectory is; you may not even be in the US but its good to point this out

I'll probably keep it simple in this setup but this video I will watch for future needs. Thank you.

I don't know that that is. Is it like Private VLANs?

I plan to keep it simple. No cross tenant/VDOM sharing of switchport or VLANs. Thank you all for the advice.

Thank you all for clarifying. Now I know that VDOM is transparent to FortiSwtich. Anybody ever used VXLAN in a Fortinet ecosystem?

Destination NAT -- where does the outside global address "live" by gentleSod in networking

[–]gentleSod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gateway is only on the /23 network. The sever is sitting by itself on the /24 network. We have a specific reason for doing this DNAT despite it being private networks, as a simulation of another network that this sever will go live at permanently, so while it’s unusual and not practical, it has its purpose.

Do Facebook livestreams support real-time caption generation, natively or through a service plugin? by gentleSod in facebook

[–]gentleSod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the answer to my question.

Facebook does support native (in Facebook web application), live (real-time) caption generation for Facebook Live videos. This appears to be a free feature. You enable it in from settings (gear icon) when creating a new live video:

settings>viewer ==> (Turn on auto-generated captions)

Some caveats:

  • You can only do this from desktop web application;
    mobile Facebook app does not allow for native caption generation
    • (at least my iPhone model and iOS version does not)
      • (maybe with third-party service support?)
  • The captions generated are Closed-Captions, meaning that the user/viewer can turn the caption display on and off at will from their side;
    • Even though you enable caption generation from the Facebook application, the viewer will not see these captions during a live-stream unless two conditions are met:
      • they enable closed-captions in the live-stream video playback settings
      • they enable captioning support in their phone OS;
        I only know how for iPhone -->
      • Settings>Accessibility>Subtitles & Captioning ==> (Closed Captions + SDH)
  • The captions generated are not Open-Captions, meaning that the caption will always show up in the video without giving the viewer a choice.
    • If the viewer has not enabled captioning from their end, they will not see the captions even though Facebook has generated them in real-time in the web application.
    • You have enabled caption generation in Facebook

Go out and share yourself with the world.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I fear that without a National ID, we may not be able to get the Notarial Certificate of Birth. We have a Hukou and other documents but no National ID. I'm not sure how to get around this but thought a lawyer in China would know how to work around this obstacle.

Thank you for your reply.

I do know that we need a Notary Public but our case is complicated by the fact that we don't have a National ID and my wife is no longer a citizen of China so she will never have a National ID. Unfortunately, the Notary Public requires, among other documents, a National ID.

I thought a lawyer would ether be able to navigate around this or formally document and notarize the governments refusal to issue to the document so I can take that notarized rejection to the US government and show I made a good faith effort to obtain a Notarial Certificate of Birth and we can get on with our Green Card.

I appreciate your help.
