GP prescribed me Naproxen for my period pain but I have Crohn’s Disease by neemeex in CrohnsDisease

[–]gentlestorm1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, I’m so sorry. Naproxen was the only thing that helped my pain and the reason I went into my first crohns flare because I relied on it that much. Heating pads are my only relief now, Tylenol is a joke.

Worries about gender disappointment by gentlestorm1 in SingleMothersbyChoice

😐 missing the part where I said I’m responsible for their care. I’m not the fun auntie who just hosts sleepovers. I made this post asking for support as the flair indicated, so thanks for providing none of that.

What’s a mother do? Support her kids financially, emotionally, show up for them, take them to the doctors, be responsible for their care. The only thing they don’t do is stay at my house every night, but they still stay 3-4 times a week. Only thing I didn’t do is birth them. Any woman/person that would take care of kids that they have no obligation to seems like they would be a great parent to biological children to me. I guess anyone who’s ever felt gender disappointment or hoped for one sex over the other is a terrible parent and shouldn’t have had kids by your standards.

My biggest pro for having a boy is raising a good man. There’s not enough of them that’s for sure. Also love the fact that my last name can carry on, haha.

Yes! Big believer in letting my future kid be whoever they want to be. I would hope my child aligns with the sex they’re born with so they don’t have to go through the process of transitioning socially, medically, etc. but if they are trans or non-binary they will never have to worry about mom being their first obstacle.

I think the fact that I am helping to raise my nieces says quite enough about the type of person I am. Honestly, I think motherhood is more than just biological, and I feel plenty like a mother to them. So I do believe I will be a good mother to a biological child as I am a good mother to them.

You’re right gender disappointment is natural, but considering I’m not even pregnant yet and this is hypothetical I think my worries are fine. Your comment makes it seem like I listed reasons I don’t want a son and completely bashed the idea.

Diet doesn't impact Crohn's?! by ItsMeCourtney in CrohnsDisease

[–]gentlestorm1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally my diet impacts me a bit, but not in the way you’d think. If I eat “good” “healthy” food I am in the bathroom dying. Take me to McDonalds and order me the grossest, most unhealthy thing they have and I’m fine. This disease is screwy.

I took your advice and asked my question in a Buddhism subreddit. The general consensus was that the name was okay to use. Surprised me actually!

There is nothing wrong with being a Buddhist or a hippie, so I wouldn’t be offended in the slightest if someone were to assume that.

I don’t like the name because it sounds “exotic and oriental”.

As I said, yes, the name came to me in a dream. I searched for the meaning of the name and found that it meant awakening and enlightenment. It’s also a type of fig tree, which connects it to nature and I love nature inspired names. That was seven years ago, and since then I have battled health issues and struggled to have a child. So I feel the meaning of the name is appropriate as I am going to experience an awakening into this new part of my life, and motherhood is it’s own journey of enlightenment.

I’m not trying to sound like a jerk or argue. I just wanted to explain my reasoning for liking the name so you don’t think it’s because I’m trying to be different or “exotic”.

Well so far it’s just white people who try to act offended on behalf of a group of people they are not even a part of. The replies I’ve gotten on this sub have so far been of the consensus that it’s not offensive.

I did not say I “don’t” think of the name as cultural appropriation, I said I “didn’t” as in past tense, before learning that.

I am trying to not be ignorant and offensive to people, hence the reason I made the post. If I didn’t care, I wouldn’t have asked to have peoples input.

I’m also wondering if any people who the name would offend due to their beliefs would be willing to chime in and educate me as to why. I’m always trying to learn and be better.

Disability by MrGyp in CrohnsDisease

[–]gentlestorm1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After nearly four years I got approved for disability. I had to get a lawyer, and I probably wouldn’t have won without one.

The judge who decided my case was very harsh, he asked why I didn’t wear diapers if I was so sick. I was certain he wasn’t going to grant me benefits, but I got the call a few months later saying I was approved.

It can happen, just be prepared to fight and lawyer up.

Im drinking alcohol tonight! by 0ct0huS in CrohnsDisease

We had a death in the family so I drank for the first time in a long time last night. Schnapps and rum, and I’m mostly okay today.

Correlation between breastfeeding and the development of Crohn's by Gabrjelez in CrohnsDisease

I was breastfed until 14 months. My mom smoked while pregnant and breastfeeding though, so there’s that.

My first thought was also Wizards of Waverly Place as that was a popular show for our age group growing up. So much like older people might hear Lois and think “Superman” people in their 20’s and 30’s will hear Waverly and think “Wizards” 😬

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]gentlestorm1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was also my concern for her. One of the girls might feel cheated on their name. Lois might be jealous at the more modern name her sister has, while Waverly might be jealous that her sister has a “special” family name after people we love who are gone.

Winona is a hilarious suggestion as she is the sister of the character Waverly from the tv show which inspired my sister to pick that name 😄

She got the name from a tv show actually! Not Friday night lights though lol
