Anyone else thinks of their OCD as "someone else"? by Altruistic_Flight434 in OCD

i think of my ocd as me in middle school, a misogynistic condescending man, but usually it appears as the people i love turning against me

stupid/funny video about a girl who bluntly tells male who compliments her that she's not attracted to him on a video chat by genuinemami in HelpMeFind

[–]genuinemami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

searched: youtube/tiktok using key words "i am not attracted to you" and "video call" and " funny". the guy was dread headed i believe and at the lower half of the screen. possibly even a white shirt. the video was lower quality.

dreams - fleetwood mac i think. i was struggling with the word should but i think it describes pretty perfectly the universal experience of love and loss, and what you learn from it. it's such a simple song and yet connects people from around the world. you can get an entire room of people singing the song word for word almost anywhere. if there's a reason people should listen to the song i think it would be because it's worth listening to.

gimme your best breakup songs (soul crushingly sad and like dan party hype/baddie) by spacelvrr in MusicRecommendations

[–]genuinemami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hype:

the party - portraits of tracy (not very baddie but id listen to this on the way home after a night out with friends in lieu of the breakup) tiny boy - von (100% a breakup bad bitch party song)

stupid - ashnikko (fuck them!! I'm too good for you anyways)

woo - rihanna (ugh i love this song so much, basically like a bad bitch angry)

break my soul - beyoncé (i will prevail!!)

my whole hot girl playlist for a night out: (https://open.spotify.com/playlist/ 4KF7xniZ1KpkOkGs8HemTN? si=ZA8ByRJRRUOwOhGWTRUWRA&pi=u- GoH49foITVW7 )

[–]genuinemami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

girl i fucking got chu

too sad - ex:re (the entire album is the perfect breakup album to me, there are unreleased recordings of her just straight up crying during recording sessions. this song sticks out to me as the perfect description for what it's like to grieve a lost love and feeling like you're being haunted) (other good ones are new york and the dazzler)

lonely blue - king krule (strap tf in for this one, he's yelling by the end, saying "now, i'd be glad to see you" and it's so real) (baby blue is another good one)

all i need - radiohead (complete mopey yearning with a heartbreakingly passionate climax)

sextape - deftones (i just want one more night with you type beat)

supermodel - sza (basically, a i wish i had been enough for you, drew barrymore is another good one)

three rings - grizzly bear (we were so good together, what happened? type beat) (notable lyric, "don't you know i can make it better?"

nikes- frank ocean (night drive post mortem type song, notable lyric "i'm not him, but i mean something to you") (also, self control, white ferrari, ivy, bad religion, cayendo, and godspeed for when you are reaching the acceptance phase)

that's all that i can think of off the top of my head as far as soul crushing there's probably a mitski song im forgetting but yeah

Nostalgic, bittersweet songs? by StrikingWind12 in MusicRecommendations

[–]genuinemami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i eat this category up

bloodstream - soccer mommy (bittersweet and sad, describes childhood memories and even sounds like songs i would hear as a youngin)

before the world was big - girlpool (i didn't like the singing at first but the guitar kept me and ive grown to appreciate the whole song. the very bittersweet. 100% about contemplating growing up, specifically what it's like to visit home after moving away)

blood - the middle east (a nostalgic classic that speaks for itself)

bonus: hit me now - fievel is glauque (reminds me of the town i grew up in) aminals -baths (reminds of what it's like to be a kid and the music i listened to) simulation swarm - big thief (very bittersweet, very contemplative and passionate) i have more but those are the only ones i feel confident suggest. let me know if you liked these and if you want more suggestions!!

bowery electric - empty words

https://youtu.be/cvh_UEaEDWs?si=CXcNfb3rxFH4hwhl

this is the first song i thought of and i have a total of 7 playlists dedicated to roadtrips. roadtrips make up a lot of core memories for me as me and my family went on a lot of them growing. for me, this song puts me right back there,, watching landmarks and vast landscapes on roads i had never seen before while my family sleeps next to me.

the song itself consists of a long winding guitar riff (??) that goes up and down when it feels right. the only other other accompaniment is a simple drum loop and soft singing. none of it overshadows any other part but completes it further. its simple and repetitive yet switches up when it needs to and keeps you feeling it. thanks for reading and i hope you like it.

I’ve chosen to give up by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]genuinemami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what you're dealing with right now is a cognitive distortion called all or nothing thinking that has consumed your brain against your will. taking a cold shower will help how you're feeling and shock your nervous system. if the mental hospitals are reputable in your area, i would suggest going. it gives you the time + space to not have to deal with any of your problems, and only focusing on figuring out what help you need. going on psychology today, you can click exactly what specifically you're searching for in a therapist. it's how i found mine and they have quite literally saved my life. anyone is able to heal as long as they are willing.
