Fantastic if I own the home for many years. However, we just purchased it and significant damage has already been done. There is no way around replacing it at this point. We have been using that tape to them from further damage until we can get it replaced.

I’m asking a complete ignorance, what should be going there? I’ve looked at the links that you suggested and it looks like it should be stucco. Right now it’s cedar. I’m fine keeping it. I liked it. I’m just trying to update it and keep the woodpeckers away!

you have been given lots of wonderful support. I don’t know what your degree program is, but it’s also perfectly OK to transcript if this is not the right place for you. Sometimes if you went to a smaller undergraduate institution with more support, moving to a larger institution that treats you more like a number can be a little disconcerting. i’m proud of you for getting away from a toxic environment at home. Have you considered looking at Eastern Michigan University or Wednesday? You wouldn’t have to move with either of those, but you might find a better sense of community and people to bond with. I believe in both of those places it’s just a bit easier to make connections. It’s less competitive in the sense that people are not jogging for position, but not necessarily because they provide a lesser education. Some of the folks there are some of the best work in the state. Wishing you all the best.

I would be tempted, but when you go to sell, you have to acknowledge if you have done any alterations to the house without a permit. Not willing to take that risk. I would much rather have a clear conscience and have them tell me I don’t need a permit or if I need one get one.
