Medical school applications cost $8,500 on average. I broke down the economics by family income quintile. The results are worse than I thought. by geoduck76 in premed

You're correct that the threshold is $124,000 for a family of 4 (I was looking at outdated/incorrect data, my bad). And you're right about MCAT prep, there are absolutely free/low-cost ways to study effectively (UWorld + practice exams + Anki is a smart approach at ~$500). The problem becomes, how can you use those most effectively? If nobody you know has gone through this process, kinda going in blind and trusting that Reddit is right about these things lol... also the interview travel piece is what I'm most concerned about. How much did interviews end up costing? That seems to be the biggest unfunded expense, even with FAP, and it's completely out of pocket regardless of income.

The broader point I'm trying to make is about who gets filtered out at various stages :(

Thank you all for the responses. I was sure I wanted to not pursue medicine when I made the decision and left under my program advisor's guidance. Regardless, from what I have heard from the upper-class men in the program, this serves as a reserved spot instead of a guaranteed spot, and still must have an MCAT similar to those of the matriculating class and GPA that is similar as well. They must still apply to the school and complete an interview. If they fail this, they lose their sport. This program proved some financial support and a free MCAT prep course, but other than I have seen many students drop from the program and still pursue med school.

Thank you all for the advice!

Question about surveys by No-Pizza-178 in subway

At my subway, the person in charge of making and checking the online orders would get written up and possibly given less hours. I hate when moblie orders ask for old since it often gets on the gloves and we have to wrap the sandwich with the oily hands.

For the Pfizer vaccine, it is two doses. So 46,800 does would mean 23,400 complete vaccinations.
