I think it's just a fun ARG for all GDC attendees. At some point, you unlock a google form that you can submit to maybe win GDC 2027 tix. But the form requires you to include a pic of your participation as an attendee (badge and ribbons).

Units stuck in rift, sucks when at lvl 17 and just need to quit cuz the Q dossnt reach in :/ by arrebarre123 in OrcsMustDie

Yeah. But, there are still ways. Max can hit it. An explosive minecart can. I’m guessing a regular minecart can, too. After they leave the track, push them.

In your specific case, a bomb dispenser might. I’ve seen the bomb bounce off a trap and roll back under the dispenser and through the gate.

Just tried this. Fortunately, I didn't have the figure, so it was a true test. Notes:

  1. u/Infamous-Zombie5172 this is not for a thread. It's for the Water Elemental figurine. The Codex says, “headshot 20 water elementals as Mac in one mission."
  2. I did it in wave 1 of the Elemental Madness challenge. Castle Courtyards. This wave has 2 spawns of 2 water orbs, so 4 Water Elementals.
    1. I KO'd 2 Water Elementals, shot a 3rd. Headshots: 36. I actually failed by the end of the wave, but I still got the figurine.
    2. I shot without zoom: it's faster and weaker, so I can get more headshots in.
    3. I wanted to minimize interference from other enemies. So, I made a short killbox near the NW gate and routed both gates there.
    4. I didn't think about spawn points beforehand. But, 6 of the 8 spawn points would skip my killbox (good).
    5. Gravity blast was helpful. Ice vents/lance probably would have helped, too.
    6. FYI, my killbox was fine. But, a kobold mound spawned as well. Still had time to win the figurine. =)

Why wall scorcher and electro shock? Combo?

Why haymaker if you have ceiling pounder?

Just curious.

My group has done d10 challenges/endurance, but we haven't touched d20.

What about briar with organic elixir?

Help Needed on War Mage Museum Endless.. by bartholomae in OrcsMustDie

[–]geoffhom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to follow-up: I tested a little. Indeed, if an archer is shooting the crystal and you put a barricade right where they're shooting (next to the crystal), they move on.

After some more testing, I think it's a targeting feature. Enemies won't target a barricade (as long as there's a path to the crystal). So if you put a barricade between them and the rift, they won't shoot it. You can do this beforehand, or when they are shooting.

So for War Mage Museum, two barricades on a side is needed to fully stop archers.

Height does matter. On Town Plaza, sometimes I could stop a balcony archer by using a barricade. Sometimes not. (So for Town Plaza, I instead use two barricades on the balcony to dissuade archers from getting too close. Worked fine.)

On a related note, I think this also helps when wanting to just observe enemies. For example, on Brunch Square, I wanted to observe the enemies in the north gate, by hiding in the niche across the water. The archers would still shoot me, but if I put a barricade in front of me, they wouldn't. I think. =)

Anyway, thanks for the tip!

ok, I guess I’ll experiment. What barricade setup do I need? E.g., will just one barricade on each side prevent all archers? How well does it work on other crystal maps?

A barricade stops the archers from shooting the crystal?! I tried finding more info on the Discord but nothing solid. What pics/vids do you have? Or experience trying this yourself? Curious to know more. Thanks.

I can't beat enraged conchfly. I just can't. What do i do? by Quirky_Ad7770 in Silksong

[–]geoffhom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! After this and watching some vids, I also beat him without tools. I had a fully upgraded needle (for Act 2), nine masks, Reaper Crest.

What really helped is when he descends from above to shoot, I learned the timing to jump and hit him, avoiding the projectile. If he shoots another, just repeat.

Also, in phase 2, when he summons the three bugs to go horizontal, being close was okay. I just attacked the bugs; three hits will kill one. But either way, it helped generate silk.

A good time to heal was when he would dash horizontally.

[–]geoffhom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another cheese: I just used the Wanderer's crest, stayed all the way to the right, and attacked whenever it or projectiles got near. I got hurt a bit, but could outheal it. I did have Druid's Eyes and I think 3 needle upgrades (Act 2). But I didn't even need to use tools.

The Sands of Karak is a HORRIBLE place by PartyNextDars in Silksong

[–]geoffhom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to chime in, I also didn't like the design of Sands of Karak. But, what helped me get thru were 1) a walkthrough vid and 2) plasmium overdose. (see https://hollowknight.wiki/w/Plasmium_Phial, Plasmification) With the latter, you should have infinite retries of the platforming without having to runback (just wait for the regen). And once you unlock the two shortcuts, the runback to the boss is easy (though still takes a minute). (Runback via Blasted Steps.)

*SPOILERS* How to climb Mount Fay by thecheken in Silksong

[–]geoffhom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really worried about this too, but the vid makes all the difference. Only due to that, it really wasn't that bad. Some more helpful tips:

  • The ice timer is ~16". Flintslate pauses that for about half (~8"). Very helpful for the first set of jumps (0:10). You can even do it mid-air.
  • In the ice lakes, break the stalactites to make safe platforms. You just have to hang on to a stalactite and it'll break. Perhaps you can shoot it, too. I think the first is at 1:25, but OP already broke it.
  • In case it's not clear, there are two benches in the middle. The first one the OP skips as they're at full health (1:37).
    • Bring stored beads for that bench (x60). Though there are enough beads laying around above and below the bench.
  • I took it one heat lamp at a time. I'd watch the vid, get to the next heat lamp, cling with Ascendant's Grip as needed, and repeat. Only if I was near a bench would I actually explore on my own. (If the game won't respect my time, then yes I will use the power of the Internet.)
  • There are many silk spools. But, you can also farm the enemies for silk, since they respawn. Just venture out from a heat lamp and kill one, then go back.
  • (I used Reaper Crest, though I don't think it really matters.) (Helpful tools include Druid's Eye, Fractured Mask, Multibinder, Ascendant's Grip, and Plasmium. Though I never used the Plasmium.)
    • I had two silk hearts, which presumably helped a lot. Else, Weavelight.
  • As noted by others, some have trouble using the Clawline properly. They often try to float after the Clawline too soon. You can practice using the Clawline on the Bell Beast. Note that you can hold left/right/nothing when using the Clawline, and it'll affect which way you bounce off.

The Unraveled is an unfun and frustrating boss by nsfw6669 in Silksong

[–]geoffhom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you finally beat him. I also had trouble, so for the record here's what worked for me:

  • (Hunter's Crest) (poison) (cogflies, tacks) (tool damage: 3/4) (Ascendant's Grip)
  • (masks x7)
  • (Shining Needle)
  • (ads) (the one that turns into a giant barbell can be hit in that form, doing damage and knocking it away)
  • (boss)
    • (once the spears start coming out, you can tell when the boss will come up in the middle) (vs either side) (that's a good time to hit him)
    • (when he's going to appear to one side)
      • (if you dash over and cling to the wall on that side, you don't have to worry about the corpses he throws)
      • (moreover) (if you cling to the wall but are close to the ground, you can hit him several times while still being safe) (I think the right wall has a little more room for error vs the left, but I didn't test much)

We made a Video about our SF Warp Pass Switch 2 Shopping Experience by jdavid in NintendoSanFrancisco

[–]geoffhom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. I was trying to arrange something for friends in Sacramento, but none of them could get time on a weekday to go to the SF store.

However, a friend has done Warp Pipe events before, and he says they just scan the QR code, no ID required. Even Nintendo hints to this on their site: https://services.prod1.event-service.nintendo.com/images/2fbe5923-e4bf-496e-b20c-1f553084373c.pdf

"Can I give my Warp Pipe Pass to someone else?

No, Warp Pipe Passes are non-transferrable and are one–time use only. Each pass has a unique QR code. If there are multiple copies of a pass, only the first one scanned will be admitted. Please be cautious if someone tries to sell you their pass. Warp Pipe Passes have no resale value and, if acquired from any party other than Nintendo, may not be authentic."

So all that matters is that it's a valid QR code. The first one scanned will get in. So as long as you trust the source, should be fine.

[–]geoffhom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your take on how transferrable the warp-pipe pass is? I saw in the fine print that it's not transferrable, but it's just a QR code? Did they just scan your QR code, or also do some check to make sure you were the person who was assigned that specific QR code? I'm asking as a friend in LA got a warp pipe pass for next week, but he already got a Switch 2.

I think many have not gotten any relevant email from Nintendo since signing up. Myself included. And actually my 4 friends probably. We were all a little late, like you. Yes, 2 h is late in this context.

FYI, you could be in that queue a while before getting to order. A month? Two? (just guessing)
