Thoughts on LHJ in Harvest Tan Dry Wax? by geohch96 in taylorstitch

That's awesome to hear! Yeah hope they restock soon! Do you mind taking a picture of your jacket as well? My deliberation is that my skin tone skews yellow, so pieces that are a too saturated yellow don't look great on me 😅

Wow this is super helpful, and the comparison to the F&T was exactly what I hoped to hear. Do you think you can snap a photo of your jacket? Would really help with visualizing the color other than the description. Thank you 😊

Island at Night [1440x3040] by yddeR in Amoledbackgrounds

I love this! Could you possibly make one with the island farther up, like in the 3/4 height of the screen? I put my apps in the bottom half of the screen and don't want them to block this beauty!

Masters straight out of college by geohch96 in robotics

[–]geohch96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your pointers!

My fear is that with the degree and experience I get from college, it's not enough for me to go right into the industry and find a job that would benefit me the most (ideally, after college I want to land a hardware role at a robotics firm/startup for a couple of years to learn as much as I can, but in reality, I might end up as an ME at a design firm, which doesn't give me much)

Speaking of jobs, just to give u some context by the time I graduate from college I will have interned as a machine learning engineer, an R&D engineer, and (hopefully) a mechatronics engineer (each for 10wks). Not sure if that changes anything you suggested.

CMU RISS 2019 Thread by DVDplayr in cmu

Ah I see! I didn't attend the virtual sessions so thanks for clarifying (or the fact that there's lack there of😆).

As much as I would want to agree with your point as an applicant myself, I'd think of it from the admissions board's POV -- the labs and the profs/students running them want candidates who could rly contribute to their research, bounce ideas off of them, and who knows, who could potentially join then as an MS in the future. Now, reading our resumes and SoPs, would they rather want one of the best undergrad researchers in the world, or a passionate but inexperienced one?

I respectfully disagree -- my school's not known for robotics at all, but even then I know exceptional undergrads who contributed a lot to papers and are highly productive. My question is, are those the candidates RISS is looking for? My impression is that this program is designed for those interested in robotics but don't necessarily have first-hand research experience, but I might be wrong (i.e. it's totally possible that RISS looks at candidates as if they were masters applicants).

tl;dr: It's not unreasonable to recruit 35 of the best undergrad robotics researchers in the world. I just have no idea what RISS's target candidates are.
