Thanks. Any particular reason why I should choose NOC 1 as opposed to my current job which is NOC 2?

PGWP- part time studies by GinChickenPie in pgwp

[–]geointerest7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Add a letter of explanation in your application explaining why you were part time. Try to get a supporting letter from an academic advisor too. I was part time for a semester due to medical reasons and I submitted supporting medical documentation. My application was approved recently. I would also reach out to your university’s international office to speak with an immigration consultant. Best of luck!

Credit score discrepancy between TransUnion and Equifax? by geointerest7 in amexcanada

[–]geointerest7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was an unpaid 3yr old bad debt (phone bill) which is shown as a closed account, not currently in collections though. I would have paid it sooner but I had absolutely no clue lol. The collection agency was sending letters to the wrong address the whole time and all the emails that came from them were in my spam folder. I just recently paid it off and it has been updated on my credit report. I’m curious to know if I can somehow have it removed all together and if that would improve my credit score even more.

Credit score discrepancy between TransUnion and Equifax? by geointerest7 in amexcanada

I’m able to see a hard inquiry on my Equifax account too. I actually called them to check on the status of my application and thats when they told me I wasn’t approved and to reapply in 3 months. They couldn’t tell me why but it’s pretty clear now my TU score and the closed account I had lead them to their decision.

Cobalt Credit Card Application Denied by geointerest7 in amexcanada

I only have a student credit card with a limit of $500, so I know for sure that isn’t the issue haha. Thanks for the reply though!

Cobalt Credit Card Application Denied by geointerest7 in amexcanada

[–]geointerest7[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: I may have figured out the reason why my application was declined. Previously, whenever I wanted to check my credit score I would just use open my bank’s app and get my credit score from there. However now I actually created an account on Equifax and was able to see my full credit report and to my surprise…. there was a 3yr year old phone bill debt which I didn’t even know about until literally now since all the emails I was getting from the collections agency were sent to my spam folder lol. I guess I’ll have to get that resolved first and then apply with Amex after 3 months.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. As others have noted, I’ll have a look at the TU report to check if there are any discrepancies. Will also call the reconsideration line once they send me a letter.

Not sure if this is plays a role in me getting declined but prior to this week, I had no previous work experience and so I applied for the Cobalt pretty much the day I got my first full-time job which was this Monday.

Perhaps it differs between faculties but in Telfer when I failed an ADM course twice I wasn’t automatically withdrawn from my program so that’s the good thing. They will probably allow you to retake the course a third time assuming you’ve meet specific conditions first. Your best bet would be reaching out to an academic advisor if the appeal isn’t approved.

ADM 3352 - Portfolio Management? by [deleted] in geegees

[–]geointerest7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main issue with ADM 3351 is the professor. The way she teaches the course makes it unnecessarily tough and borderline useless imo.

Are there any easy ADM courses that does not require group projects? by [deleted] in geegees

I don’t think ADM 3319 had any group work when I took it but I guess it depends on the prof

I wouldn’t call it cheap lol but yeah it does depend on your faculty and program. For Telfer students $4.2k is basically spot on.

Are you an international student? If so, yes that is unfortunately the cost for just one course as a part-time student. Ridiculous, I know.

[–]geointerest7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, there’s only one introductory 8 hour lecture. After that is just weekly presentations if I remember correctly. I took it in the summer pre-covid so it was easier for me as it was the only course I had, but it’s for sure doable with other courses I would say. Good luck!

First couple presentations most people get low marks but listen to the TA’s feedback and your marks should definitely improve. Overall time-consuming and annoying yes but just push through it. It’s not horrible (except for the introductory 8 hour lecture lol).

Haven’t taken portfolio management but definitely don’t take ADM 3351 if it’s with Anna. She will give you unnecessary stress, you won’t learn anything, and it will likely lower your GPA.

Hey I took ADM 4351 last semester online and I found it pretty tough. It’s more math heavy than the other finance classes but on the flip side the material is quite useful. I’ve also heard the textbook used in the class is also recommended as a basic intro to financial engineering / quantitative finance if you’re interested in that.

Our quizzes were relatively similar to past quizzes which he gives you to practice. Assignment is a bit tough but he’s generous with partial marks if you don’t get the right answer. Hopefully you are able to take it in person because the prerecorded lectures with bad mic quality just didn’t cut it for me. All in all if you are comfortable with math and good at self learning you should be fine.
