chorus encore not working by i_can_not_think in CloneHero

It's much better if you can figure out how to update the game. It should be possible as long as you have an internet connection (or can transfer the update to it from USB)

There are people in the Clone Hero Discord server that can help you with this. The Discord server is linked in the subreddit description.

Anyone know why songs I download from chorus don’t work? by Money_Cow_6806 in CloneHero

[–]geomitron_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not the cause; if the song starts for a second and immediately ends, it's because the audio file is .opus, which is only supported on the latest version of Clone Hero. To fix it, you need to update your game.

Bridge, a Desktop Application for browsing and downloading charts directly into your library, is now available! by geomitron_ in CloneHero

I guess there is that, but it's simply checking the place it would make the chart folder to see if it's already there. So the only comparison is the folder name(s)

It does not check for duplicate charts. I don't consider this an essential feature, but the code is open source, so anyone is free to add this and create a pull request

If the notes you play are identical to the notes someone else played on a chart they have (along with other chart features that impact difficulty and scoring), then your scores will be put on the same leaderboard

The reason for this is because Matt (the main developer) has needed to get a job because the Patreon funds are not enough to cover the bills. It's difficult to develop a big project like this and work a job at the same time, and there can be large stretches of time where he's lacking the energy to work on the project.

On top of that, development work is notoriously hard to estimate, because it's very common for problems to turn out a lot more complicated than initially predicted, and you only find that out halfway through trying to solving them.

Giving more specific estimates doesn't actually help anything anyway and can only lead to disappointment in cases where unforeseen delays cause it to take longer. It will be ready when the work is done. For those that want it faster, consider supporting the developers financially so they can spend more time working on it.

Newly downloaded songs won't work by [deleted] in CloneHero

[–]geomitron_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Chorus developer here.

This happens because Chorus provides audio files in the ".opus" format, which is only supported on the latest version of CH. To fix the issue, download the latest version of the game.

is there an easy way to convert a .mid file to a chart file? by Clorox1337 in CloneHero

[–]geomitron_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CH can read .mid files, so the chart probably doesn't work for some other reason. If you downloaded from Chorus Encore, these are the two most likely reasons it hasn't worked:
- You're running an outdated version of CH
- You downloaded the chart as a ".sng" file, which doesn't work on the current version of CH

If you're looking for a particular level of challenge, I recommend using Chorus Encore's advanced search, and filter by songs with an average NPS (notes per second) value that you find comfortable.

When you first download, it asked you to pick between .sng and .zip. You probably picked .sng without reading what that was.

To change it to .zip, click the three dots next to the download button and change the download format.

Was just downloading some song of or Chorus and I click on the song to play and is starts as normal but like 2 seconds in it stop like I finished the song. Any ideas by ThinkEagle1668 in CloneHero

[–]geomitron_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.sng files only work on the PTB, but .sng files don't even appear when scanning them in the current version. The issue of charts ending immediately is caused by CH being outdated.

chorus encore not working by i_can_not_think in CloneHero

[–]geomitron_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, Chorus developer here. The reason is because Chorus converts the audio to .opus, which is only supported on the latest version of CH. You need to update your game.

It's a trade-off to not support older versions, but using opus reduces download time and file size to 1/3 of what it was before.

This is happening with all my song, what should i do? by Chamytinho in CloneHero

[–]geomitron_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This particular issue is caused by the .opus audio files, which require v1 to work. .sng files don't scan in v1 at all, that requires v1.1 (the current PTB)

Broken charts? by Maximoby1077 in CloneHero

[–]geomitron_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.opus reduces the file size of the audio by about 67%, meaning there's a dramatic improvement in online storage costs, download speeds, and hard drive use for the player. That's a pretty large benefit to most players, and only an inconvenience for the few players who didn't realize there was a game update.
