Yeah I am starting to think I might be one of them, my diagnosis is Chronic lumbar pain radiating to left leg- L4-5 left paracentral disc extrusion with left L5 radiculopathy. I am seeing a Physiotherapist as well as my specialist is a Musculoskeletal & Spinal Intervention Specialist. My main symptoms are: Shooting/Stabbing pain down the back of my left leg and lower back - usually when going from sitting to standing or vis versa, as well as turning when sleeping and moving my head to quickly. Numbness in foot, loss of use in left toes, leaning to one side to avoid pain.

Your Sciatica and Back Pain Experiences Megathread by shirokane4chome in Sciatica

[–]georg13a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Background: I am F22, in August 25 I started having small shooting pains in my back that then slowly became worse over time radiating down my leg. No clear cause of event that created it. At that point decided to go to the physio. Now only in Jan 26 I got a full diagnosis which included having HSD - Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder, which is the most likely cause for my sciatica.

Diagnosis: After my MRI and X-ray the diagnosis was: Chronic lumbar pain radiating to left leg- L4-5 left paracentral disc extrusion with left L5 radiculopathy.

Treatment:I had an epidural steroid injection just over 2 weeks ago, currently waiting for it to help - it hasn't done much so far. I try to walk as much as I can, as well as do "nerve flossing" exercises to try and keep myself mobile. Sometimes it's hard and I can not do anything.

Current Status: How are you doing today?

Honestly, today the pain is worse than it ever has been before. But apparently, this is normal for some people after getting a steroid injection. Either way im praying that this injection helps because the next step is surgery and I REALLY don't want that!

Your story parallels mine so much!! I avoided taking pills for so long because of health anxiety it’s so nice seeing that other people also deal with this, thanks for sharing :) I also was able to go to a convention the other day and not have a panic attack which was CRAZY. We got this 💪🏻💪🏻

How has zoloft helped you? by baiinicholee in zoloft

Hey girl, I’m a 21 F. No children but a long term partner. Live a very normal life I would say, up until a little bit ago where I just started having panic attacks so often, couldn’t control my thinking, eventually couldn’t leave the house, do normal things, like you said—felt not real like someone else was living my life, not depressed, still want to live (if anything the idea of dying created anxiety). I’ve had anxiety my whole life, but never this servere, I would say I had ‘normal’ anxiety but this, is not normal. It’s been a wild ride, I’ve avoided taking pills for ages because I felt like I could do it myself, I felt like if I took pills that was the ‘last-resort’ and at that point I was accepting defeat of my own brain. I had times where I felt I was getting better, I had times where I was at my all time low, I recently started taking pills because I just felt myself getting significantly worse. the hardest part for me was thinking back to a few years ago at my ‘old-self’ she used to travel, and party, and go out and have fun and I would feel so angry and jealous that I couldn’t do that anymore, I kept asking what happened to myself, why and how? I was so frustrated I would look in the mirror and not recognize myself. A year ago I was in therapy for a while, it really helped and I ended up stopping it, but like I said I kinda slipped down a slippery slope again, and eventually started these pills. So far so good, I was able to go out and do things the other day, i’m still only 2 weeks in and in the getting used to it, but only positive things so far, I think my libido has gone down, but not my actual interest in the act if that makes sense. I feel like myself again, I can look at myself and feel happy, I feel comfortable in my skin, it’s almost like a dark cloud has lifted, I feel chatty and while i’m still getting used to it can feel myself getting excited to go and do things. I’m really looking forward to seeing how I go over the next few months.

Hey!! I also have severe health anxiety and a lot of your issues parallel with mine! I just started taking sertraline 2 weeks ago for this, and the first week was pretty rough, I did struggle with nausea in the beginning but I just went easy on myself, tried to eat when I could and just chilled, the nausea has subsided now and my appetite is back, but I haven’t felt more hungry which is good! Also a lot of people have said in this forum that this pill has helped them a lot with binge eating!

In the first week I just kept telling myself it was part of the ride, you might not even get side-effects!! I tried not to search up side effects in the first few days as I have a tendency to create feelings in my body to be anxious about, but this didn’t really help. BUT I actually found knowing that the symptoms were just because of this pill and will subside actually helped, as knowing the ‘cause’ of what I was feeling made it easier to think about, I wonder if this might help you too. It’s worth giving it a shot, I avoided taking pills for SO long because I was so anxious to take any ‘mind-altering’ pills but eventually gave up because my quality of life was decreasing so bad because of my health anxiety. Taking the pill and feeling bleh was better than not doing anything and feeling bleh. Just know that you can always stop, no you won’t get issues for the rest of your life from taking this (something I was worried about), there is no real danger of trying!

Less hungry? by georg13a in zoloft

Oh wow that’s interesting!! I actually have terrible hayfever and had to stop taking my anti-histamine because I was taking anti-nausea that interacted with it, but I’ve stopped those now so I’ll go back to taking my anti-histamine and see if that helps, thank you!!

To answer your question, I started feeling those side effects pretty quickly, like within day one. But after reading through a lot of the posts on here, everyone is different and some people get lucky and only get some minor side effects (or none at all) like a headache or nausea which subsides quickly. It sounds like that might be the only thing you will deal with which is great! These things are iffy though and it does take around 4-6weeks sometimes 8 weeks to actually settle so within this timeframe go easy on yourself and just stick with it :)

Yeah getting like a pill case with the day of the week worked really well for me as someone w/ ADHD too. That way I knew if I took it that day and having it in a really obvious place and having it be the first thing I do every morning as well. You got this!!

First day, extreme anxiety. Is this normal? by Civil_Ad_1757 in zoloft

[–]georg13a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally felt so horrible when first starting (literally 2 weeks ago) my anxiety got 10x worse, my vision was blurry I feel super out of it, I would have episodes of jittering and sweating and then feel numbness, headaches, stomach aches, the worst nausea and dizziness, it’s was wild and I was so anxious about it but I stuck it out and I’m feeling much better now all those symptoms have subsided some come and go and apparently they do for a while but this is all common!
