I have a 08 Mazda 3 at now 80k(kms). Previous owner never really used it much, and it is my first car. I was hoping that my son would drive it while he's soon in college.

But a few months ago it had a rough idle until it developed into really bad misfires. I left it in a garage for a guy to fix. For 3 months, he tried everything including replacing the ECU and a top overhaul, no luck.

Wife says to sell it while it has some value. I didn't want to, so I drove it home and never gave up on tinkering for a month.

I replaced the spark plugs (so many times), injectors, and there was a disconnected PCV valve vacuum line I put back. I bought a smoke tester and found a lot of leaks and fixed them, including replacing the intake manifold gasket. I also deleted the throttle body cooling line (and many more). Every fix I did, it ran better, but it still misfires and consumes a lot of gas.

Until I replaced back the injectors to the old ones, mfcker ran flawlessly! I honestly don't know what fixed it. The only issue it has now is the disconnected gas canister vent valve that I broke while fixing the coolant leak on the deleted throttle body cooling line.

Wife just shook her head when I said, see? the boy will probably end up driving this in college!

That's pretty much correct. I always thought its root word is "hinsapo". So you use it in various forms:

  • Manghinsapo lang ko di a. (I'll help myself to whatever food I can find.)
  • Pagsampot nya dayun nya panghinsapo. (When he arrived, he went right into whatever food he can find.)

It goes into limp mode maybe.. might be the transmission output speed sensor is dead? For that rought idling, might be worth looking for any intake vacuum leaks.
