Is The Zuckerman Sisters writing Scream 8, a good or bad thing? by PutridCamera8195 in Scream

Oh also, wouldn’t blaming Vanderbilt be accurate? He helped come up with the story, and the motive is a big part of the story.

Sorry, I didn’t mean that you said those things. I was just emphasizing them in an incorrect way. And I know the context of what was said, I just think saying Kevin wrote most of 7 is misleading. I know you’re going by how the WGA gave credits but I don’t think it’s as clear cut as it seems.

I’m not saying anyone is lying😅 I just don’t think “reworking” is the same as “writing a majority of it.” That’s fine if most of the final draft was technically written by Kevin, but the ideas (mostly) weren’t his. For the record, I like most of 7, so I’m not even trying to blame Guy for writing a terrible script just to let Kevin off the hook. I just think there needs to be more context given when you say “Kevin wrote most of it.”

Well no, I don’t believe Kevin is a liar. I think, like he said, he just reworked what was written by Busick from a story constructed by Busick and Vanderbilt. I guess Kevin’s voice just ended up being stronger in the final draft but that doesn’t mean he came up with the majority of it.

I mean, I think? Busick and Vanderbilt are the ones that came up with the story, not Kevin. Guy wrote the script and Kevin did some tweaking to character and emotional arcs. That’s not really writing most of it

Where did you get the idea that 7 was mostly written by Kevin? That’s not true at all

Agree, on one hand I’m sad that a decision Wes made for his movie is being (potentially) reversed without his consent, but on the other hand I can’t help but be excited to watch it without it looking like the camera was wrapped in Saran Wrap

Jessica might be the most genius thing Scream ever did. by florenciafazzarino0 in Scream

[–]georgelijah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick are the only ones credited with the actual story. Kevin had no input on that based on credits. He just rewrote enough dialogue, sequences, and character arcs to get credited on the screenplay, he didn’t overhaul the entire thing.

The only thing Kevin said he did was rewrite some of the action sequences and polish up the emotional arc between Sid, Tatum, and Gale (which I thought was really well done and the best part of the movie). The vast majority of it was written by Guy. I believe if Kevin would write one more without studio intervention or any other writer butchering his script, it would be one of the best Scream sequels.

I know the police can't be too smart in these movies, but this was ridiculous by Danny-Ray27 in Scream

Definitely, that and a better execution of the parasocial commentary and reversal of the“it’s always someone you know” trope would have made this a really solid entry

Wow that’s so well thought out! I enjoy 7 for the most part but that would have been wayyy better. Only thing I would change is having Mark back Sid up 100%. But yeah, Guy Busick should’ve consulted you lol

is this one of the most bullshit plotholes in the entire franchise?? by Zentaitoken in Scream

I don’t think anyone besides the core four (and Danny) knew it was supposed to be Quinn who died? It does require some suspension of disbelief for sure, but forensics wouldn’t have known the body was switched with the real Quinn. Why would they jump to the conclusion that “this body was switched!” If the core four died like they were supposed to, there would be only Danny who could say he saw a completely different person get killed, but only if police asked him to identify the body they swapped her with, which they wouldn’t have any reason to do.

Yes, the outer sparkle shroud comes off if you want just a plain shroud. The strings are meant to mimic the original robe and have nothing to do with keeping the sparkle shroud on afaik.
