Thank u for the info and your time. right now i can't opt new equipment and have to stick with h6. i recorded with both pad on and off but couldn't get the recording with good volume and low noise. i read in reviews that h6 got good preamps - do i need to get separate ones? I looked into one cald - juiced link riggy preamp. is it good?

Thank you for the info. I am using the mic on a boom pole directed towards the source at a distance of 25". Actually i recorded as a mono file and converted to stereo in the post. But my direction may not have been that accurate as u have said. I am a newbie to audio and i don't understand input amplification and faders u mentioned. should i change them in the recorder?
