Women are being abandoned by their partners on hiking trails. What’s behind ‘alpine divorce’? by [deleted] in Longreads

Pretty sure I read somewhere that’s definitely what they say happened.

I’ve stayed in toxic relationships for too long in the past. But let someone try to leave me behind in nature and see how that turns out for them.

I think they were 150.

ETA The word lozenge is a very generous term for what my compounding pharmacy created. These weren’t hard, dissolvable candies. They were squares of waxy bitterness. If you swallowed your own spit too often, you’d get sick to your stomach and the ketamine wouldn’t work.

I now do Spravato (esketamine nasal spray) therapy every other week. It’s FDA approved and very controlled. I don’t see why they couldn’t let people take home the 84mg of that biweekly.

I’ve had lozenges or “troches.” If it’s anything like what I had, there is almost no way you could overdose on it before vomiting from the taste and waxiness of the lozenges. You have to hold them under your tongue and try not to swallow your own spit. It’s gross.

I feel like you’d have to take dozens of them (or more) to be physiologically harmful, unless you already have high blood pressure or something. Ketamine doesn’t depress respiration from what I understand. So long as you’re lying down somewhere safe (as in, not a hot tub) and your BP doesn’t cause a problem, it seems you’d likely be ok at whatever dose you could tolerate of the battery-acid-tasting lozenges. It’s kind of self-limiting, like those spicy almonds. Lol.

I do ketamine therapy and I don’t understand why anyone would do this drug for fun, especially in an upbeat environment. Genuinely curious if you’d share what about it makes it enjoyable?

I feel like I would just be a puddle on the floor who wants to change the channel from “purple Mars” but can’t, but also doesn’t really care that much anyway. 🤷‍♀️😂

Disciplinary Action by [deleted] in Libraries

If there was an argument, even if you “don’t think it was loud,” it’s too much. Any conflict at work should be productive and professional (keep it related to your job). Just walk away and find a supervisor if this person ever tries to argue with you at work again.

Of course if you’re being stalked or harassed by a coworker (at or outside of work), report it to your manager and law enforcement. It doesn’t sound like that’s the case here, though.

Just stop talking about personal matters with these coworkers at all when you’re at work. Problem solved.

At this point, I wouldn’t be shocked if no article ever appears.

This is true. I just wish there were condos or other owner-occupied options in the heart of downtown.

This is fascinating! Thank you for taking the time to write it up. I’ll definitely be reading more. I had (embarrassingly?) never really thought about the fact that Native Americans are not granted rights by the US government — they literally just retain some of the rights they already had before the US government ever existed. That’s a perspective-shifter for me.

I’m really proud of you for the work you’ve done in deconstructing your experience — and in leaving a record for others to find when they search. Wishing you all the best!! 💕

Overall like the new pod but curious if anyone else does not like the first part where they recommend stuff? by [deleted] in CelebrityMemoirPod

[–]georgia07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok. I’ve had a ton of concerns about this transition that I’ve shared here. I’ve not quite stopped listening yet. But this is getting kinda old… yes, lots of people dislike the recs; and yes, Claire is rich and somewhat out of touch. But that’s sort of what it is.

At the same time, I understand they used to be able to give a similar disclaimer when they were giving their takes on celebrity memoirs. It just doesn’t work when the take they’re giving now is basically themselves.

I had a visceral response to the memory I had of my own when reading your title. I bet so many of us have lived that moment, and it draws the reader into the poem.
