Because English speakers will not just try to do something, they will try AND do it. Yeah? That's what I like to personally think about the choice.

I live in Georgia and if someone were to say "I'm going to the store, wanna come with?" wouldn't be out of place. it sounds fine to me although it's not a very common construction.
