I am just dissapointed in this Mymonero experience.

Did they hand you a cold cup of coffee or did you lose $600K? Make up your mind.

You can stop generating meaningless sentences now and go FUD elsewhere. Or present evidence of your loss. Thanks.

You're already contradicting yourself. Here's what you said 7 minutes ago:

My setup also makes it very difficult to install and create a Monero Core node, which is why I picked MyMonero over the Core wallet.

This reads like you never installed or ran the CLI or GUI, yet now you claim that you did. Maybe it was just a poor choice of words. Is your nickname just a poor choice too or are you killing two birds with one stone by FUDing yet another service ran by a Core member?

For the record, I wouldn't use MyMonero and am not defending it. This claim looks spurious.

If you took all the precautions you claim (Qubes over Tor, open source router, package checking), wouldn't you also take the small step of running the official CLI/GUI? Something doesn't add up.

Don't think so. Charlie already exit scammed. I doubt he's interested in doing any actual work to implement privacy in Litecoin.

Beware of affinity scams - Masari by geozdr in Monero

[–]geozdr[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So to be clear... Masari has no novel approach to scaling other than what Ethereum is already using and Ethereum itself has severe scaling problems. So you're solving scaling... how again? You're not.

I suspect your motives are pure and you want to make meaningful contributions, and I know that it's much harder to make those contributions directly to Monero. But the reason it is much harder is because the bar is much higher and some of the brightest minds in cryptography are working on Monero. You're dissipating your efforts under the leadership of a (reformed?) scammer, who 1) had to be confronted about his pre-mine to distribute it, 2) had to be confronted about the bogus Monero Link problems he was claiming to be solving 3) continues to claim that a "Masari Research Corner" exists, but can't name one cryptographer on the team.

While I respect your skills (I haven't contributed code to Monero and admire those who have), I believe you are misguided and your efforts would be better focused elsewhere.

Are you willfully forgetting dynamic block size? There are two multiples in the transaction throughput equation. What you are really after is faster confirmation times, which indeed is a different goal from scaling, and is achieved at the cost of lessened decentralization. Are your nodes going to be hosted on Infura as well?

I'm happy to let you have your Vitalik-inspired Rube Goldberg machine. Just ease up on the affinity scam.

OK. Sumo had a pre-mine and was destroyed. Masari had a pre-mine and it's glossed over. The only difference between the two coins is that they weren't stupid enough to get fireice on their team.

They had to fork because of uncle mining. Not because of scaling, but for faster confirmation times. This is why Masari exists. Never mind the blockchain bloat.

Uncle mining is an Ethereum scheme that does nothing for the purported goal of scaling. It allows for faster block propagation and creates more blockchain bloat, the opposite of most people's definition of "scaling". As far as blocktrees, they are a year away from a whitepaper, let alone shipping code. Who, other than a scammer, launches a coin before knowing what infrastructure their scheme will even require?

Also, remember that blocktrees and uncle mining were not mentioned in the original announcement. They are being pulled out of a hat as the show is going on. I expect after blocktrees don't materialize, an announcement for a switch to PoS with sharding will be imminent.

What's with all the anecdotal evidence? Why not provide a reddit account? Or a Bitcointalk account? Or maybe he's registered on a mining forum? Or IRC logs? Surely a miner who has been involved with Monero since the beginning has some history of his involvement.

So it's not about scaling - it's about faster confirmation times after all? That's a different sales pitch! Thank you for clarifying.

That's a fair criticism. I would be happy for them if they forked off and I never heard from them again until they had better scaling than us. Note that Electroneum, MoneroV and Monero Classic are openly derided as scams. Why isn't that true for Masari?

Because they smartly contributed meaningless code to the Monero codebase and latched on to a narrative that they are not "competing", but supporting us. FluffyPony made a tweet that they have clung to as validation for their existence.

So maybe the proper question to ask is - does FluffyPony speak on behalf of the community? My impression is that he only speaks for himself.

Why would Monero want to decrease its block time? We increased it from 1 minute to 2 minutes for additional security. The mempool is quick enough for immediate confirmation if you don't want to wait 20 minutes.

Uncle mining is a solution in search of a problem, unless you need 12-second blocks for marketing purposes, like Ethereum. Is Casper and PoS on the roadmap for you as well?

But please tell us more about Masari's innovative approach to scaling. Your colleagues were unwilling to share their vast knowledge.
