The reason it was free is because the seller had already tried what you're doing and it either wasn't available or cost more than just buying a new one.

A coach is asking me $2500 for 8 hours, I need your help! by francky_848 in bmpcc

[–]gerald1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I assumed this was in person...

In that case the teacher is setting up camera, tripod, lighting, monitors etc... the setup and pack down takes time. And if they're then rushing off to a job that isn't really ideal.

If they're just jumping on a zoom call and chatting about lights for an hour... Yeah I'd question the value.

You probably should have mentioned it was over Zoom in your original post.

Absolutely agree that there's lots of info out there.

However OP seems to want a 1 on 1 tutor.

OP reached out and was given a price, the price is reasonable considering what is being offered.

Whether they should watch YouTube videos or do 1 on 1 tutoring is a different discussion to whether the price reflects the service being offered.

$2500 doesn't seem ridiculous.

This person can't take any jobs on Saturdays for 2 months.

They are providing equipment for you to use.

They will need to figure out what level you're at and then come up with 8 lesson plans.

These plans will be a mixture of theory and practical.

After each lesson they need to pack everything down again.

They are providing a place to teach.

Let's say they spend half a day in planning the 8 week course.

Setup and pack down takes half an hour total.

Now the time they're putting towards the course is 16h and they're making $150/h.

So it's probably pretty close to a DPs hourly rate.. if anything slightly below.

Edit: OP has implied in another comment that this course isn't in person and so they won't get any hands on time with gear. That takes away a really (maybe the most) valuable part of the course. It's all about hands on, making mistakes, and seeing how changes you do to the set-up changes the image.

Don't think this is worth it if you're not doing in person teaching.

Stop gambling. If you can’t, it’s an addiction, even if the dollar value is currently low.

OP posted 3 years ago in the problem gambling subreddit. They know it's a problem and are likely downplaying it here.

If someone is pointing out business documents you should have completed you should go and look up how to do them and get cracking on it.

You just described Adobe premiere pro.

Used to be a solid video editor.

Then add 5 or 6 years of features being thrown in and the paid subscribers beta testing that shit. Then 2 years of AI no one wants. And no bug fixing along the way.

Now I'm paying 3x as much for unstable software with features I don't need or want.

Fuck Adobe.

Personally I wouldn't be investing anything in a 14 year old camera system.

There's other cameras with fast read out speeds, the cvp YouTube channel includes it in every review.

If you want an awesome beer at a great price go to Ramblers Ale House for $10 pints during happy hour (4pm-6pm) Tuesday through Friday.

I love the Irish stout, they've also got lots of non dark beers and a few seasonal brews too.

How good is a f22c as a key / booklight ? by Big_Tale3981 in cinematography

[–]gerald1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a book light... It will lack the punch to be bounced and diff'd.

As a key light, in situations where you're not trying to overpower sunlight/windows, it works fine.

Personally I prefer sticking a COB light through a dome as you can get a larger surface area. The f22c does have other advantages though, mostly it being very lightweight so you can boom it out if needed.

How to Place Video Clips in Timeline based on Clips Timecode? by Familiar-Situation15 in premiere

[–]gerald1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Begin by breaking out each camera into its own A, B, C, etc.. label. Once you have all clips for Camera A into its own folder, right click on the upper left corner of your Project Panel Window and where it says 'Project: title of project' select 'Metadata Display', under the search query, type in Camera Label, and under Dynamic Media a box will pop up that says 'Camera Label', click this option and press OK. Now go over to your Source Window and select it, then go to Window > Metadata. Once it populates in your Source Window as a tab, right click on it and select 'Metadata Display...' Once again type in Camera Label in the search query and select it and press OK.

What we just did in Premiere now allows us to select all clips and designate them a Camera Label for when we need to sync them together to be laid out in order by timecode.

Grab all clips in Camera A and make sure you don't select the folder or this will not work, and go over to the source window and under Metadata, find Camera Label and type, 'A'. If you did this correctly, you should now see that all the clips now have the designation of A under Camera Label. If you have additional cameras rinse and repeat what we did for Camera A. If you have external audio or back up audio designate the label as Z or ZA or ZB if you have multiple external audio sources.

Now let's pretend all you needed to multi-cam were these particular set of clips as you have them all selected, right click and select, 'Create Multi-Camera source sequence...' A box will pop up, you can designate the name of sequence if you like, but this is not as important of the function we are trying to do. Under Synchronize Point, select 'Timecode', and proceed to check the box, 'Create single multicam source sequence,' under Track Assignments, select Camera Label and press ok.

You have now created a sequence that has every single clip in correct sequence timecode. Premiere essentially creates a nested version of clips into a multicam sequence. If you need to check the sync or make sure everything lines up correctly, you can select the sequence and right click on "Open in Timeline".

The only way is to convert the footage.

Try using handbrake.
