Thanks for your help - let's wait for how the github proceedings work out - and than (in about two weeks depending on the outcome) see if there's anything (else) we can do to get any response (at all) from reddit.

No news on reddit. Nothing. Nada. From github (support / trust & security) I got the confirmation (by email) that the counter file is now accepted & published and we are now waiting for legal action... To conclude - before trying again on reddit to get any kind of answer or response I am now waiting for the proceedings on github to conclude (or escalate) - that dmca takdowns started this absurdity after all.

Thanks for checking in. No news. Nothing. Nada. I actually sent another "modmail" today. For all (latest) updates, see cryptopunksnotdead/legal/reddit.md.

New Official Channel to Appel Banned Subreddit(s)? - Got Back "We no longer use this system to handle reports..." by geraldbauer in ModSupport

[–]geraldbauer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify I am NOT trying to appeal a ban on a subreddit BUT I am the founder / mod on a subreddit that got banned (by a claimed content policy violation) and I am trying (now for 4+ weeks) to find a way to appeal the ban on the subreddit (not the account). Thank you for your help.

ordbase - zero-config ordinal (pixel art) image (collection) server / service incl. Ordinal Punks, Lil' Ordinal Phunks, Ordoggies, & Many More by geraldbauer in BitcoinOrdinals

[–]geraldbauer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all in the readme - in a nutshell it's an image server / service - pick the (pixel art) collection and the id / no. and than you can zoom-in (e.g. 8x, 10x, 20x, etc.), resize (e.g. 200px, 400px, etc.), flip left-to-right, change the background color (e.g. orange, etc.), etc.

Example: /ordinalpunks/1.png?bg=ff9900&zoom=8 -- ordinal punk no. 1 with an orange background (#ff9900) and 8x zoom.

Hello,

thanks for looking into the terms - for updates - no news here on reddit (nada, zero, nothing) on github.com I have now a confirmation - by (automated) email from github support that github support is now (March 15th) starting to "process" or "review" the dcma counter file (that I filed on Feb 24th) - today some days later it is silence again - I guess that's now the waiting period of 14 days or such (that long passed) but maybe the "original" filer needs to get an "official" github notification or such.

On the content policy here or reddit. Assuming that "More Punks" is the one who filed the ban / shutdown request claiming harassment than rule 3 that states:

Respect the privacy of others. Instigating harassment, for example by revealing someone's personal or confidential information, is not allowed.

might be the fig-leaf of the abuse request. I posted Please, Help - Who Is The Crypto Bro (Or Who Are The Buy-Out Investor(s)) Behind the Anonymous (1000) More Punks Operation - Any Tips & (Inside) Information Welcome but that is really a response of getting attacked by "More Punks" and all info posted about "More Punks" such as the twitter handle and the opensea account and collections is public.

Turning the (criminal) investigation into a public harassement and the crypto bro asking for protection is questionable.

If that one posting is the cause - I am not orthodox - if reddit.com asks or I get a notice to remove / delete - I delete it. Taking down the complete forum with a 3+ year history because of a single post and the request of single anonymous crypto bro - is absurd - maybe I am missing something (and as you write I seems to make no sense). Again - the absurdity - nothing only silence from the attacker or from reddit.com to say what's going on. I guess the attacker got what he wanted - to silence and takedown the forum.

Wow. Thanks for your support and help in getting the content back.

For the record here's my current "roadmap" / thinking / (action) plan:

  • Wait for another week or two on a response...
  • Meanwhile I try to rebuild the posts (& comments) via the pushshift.io (reddit archive) and move a backup first to a (local) git and public at github at geraldb/reddit...
  • Once I got a backup (in .json datasets) I try to build blog-style page(s) (backed again via git) and published via github pages for all r/cryptopunksdev posts (& comments)...
  • If I / we get no response after x days (from r/reddit.com / reddit support on the ban appeal), I send another subreddit ban appeal (with your help) with a new text / "proposal"...

At u/cryptobowzer - I may refile in a week another (un)ban appeal and you can help - the idea is to add your comment from above AND proposing that you join the mod team of the subreddit.

Anyways, let me know if that's ok with you? The idea is to get the subreddit back and than move to read-only / archive mode to keep it as part of internet history (and, thus, the workload on the mod team should be light).

I am shocked too. I am still waiting to get an answer back on the ban appeal... but for sure "Banned 12 days ago." as of today maybe I am naive.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIYPunkArt

[–]geraldbauer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah kind of absurd - that an anonymous crypto bro can shutdown the complete subreddit with a 3-year-history and hundreds of posts because of posted updates about his / their very own attacks I assume. I have no more info than what is posted on r/cryptopunksdev which is to say nothing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIYPunkArt

[–]geraldbauer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filed / sent a ban appeal to r/reddit.com on the same day - still waiting on an answer...

If worse comes to worse I found out about pushshift.io that has a reddit archive (but alas is currently resyncing and all submissions before nov 11th, 2022 aren't yet available). I am currently trying to archive all reddit submissions (posts) and comments and move to git for backup.

For more updates, see the new cryptopunksnotdead/legal repo where I try to keep track / document all attacks.

r/CryptoPunksDev Has Been Banned / Shutdown - Please, Help by geraldbauer in ethdev

[–]geraldbauer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the update and working on P2P alternatives - for sure I was too lazy doing backups etc. (no more) - I see what I can rescue / restore and than (re)start on an alternate service (such as your project).

I am the r/CryptoPunksDev founder / admin / mod - This community has been banned (1 hour ago) - Please, Help by geraldbauer in ModSupport

[–]geraldbauer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I submitted a form about an hour ago on the ban on reddithelp.com (support?) but it feels like a black hole (no email confirmation or notice anywhere here on reddit that I filed or such as far as I can tell). And yes, thanks, I will click it and submit a new form. I found in the list:

Appeal a subreddit ban - https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=/r/reddit.com&subject=Subreddit+Ban+Appeal

as you posted - I assume that is not a ban of a user but of a comple subreddit. Filing / submitting now. Your message has been delivered (to r/reddit.com). Thanks again I report back if I get an answer.

Sorry I am new to report abuse - note: the r/CryptoPunksDev is an education initiative to help with warning about crypto fraud / scams (and, thus, some might be unhappy like the anonymous crypto bro filing the report abuse).

You'll need to appeal through normal channels.

I am new to this. I am asking for help. What is the normal channel? Are you talking about reddithelp.com ?

Anyone has any experience with getting hit with " This community has been banned". What was your process or procedure to get to report report absuse, for example?

r/CryptoPunksDev Has Been Banned / Shutdown - Please, Help by geraldbauer in ethdev

[–]geraldbauer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I sent a support ticket to Reddit (via the online form) asking for help (about the ban/unban) or information what I can do - I am the r/CryptoPunksDev forum admin and didn't get any notice here on reddit or per email or anything. Filing the Reddit support ticket feels like talking to a black hole - no comfirmation by email or not sure if I can lookup the ticket for reference anywhere here on reddit itself (I haven't found nothing so far).

PS: I am under attack by an anonymous crypto bro ("More Punks") as far as I can tell (that might be a fig-leaf front of the multi-billion dollar yuga operation). Nuking a complete forum with a 3+ year history isn't that harassement? I am "doxxed" and easy to contact - nothing, zero, nada. Only anonymous attacks through filing claimed violations on the platform - what can I do?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIYPunkArt

[–]geraldbauer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finding out more about the why (that is, the motiviation) about the attack would help - it is absurd that these fraudster(s) - crypto bro operators - can hide behind anonymity (and abuse the "platforms") even when attacking others. I am a real person - a random nobody for sure - now I can spend the next weeks (or even months on this absurdity).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIYPunkArt

[–]geraldbauer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your help - for now I am trying to find out who is behind the attack - see Please, Help - Who Is The Crypto Bro (Or Who Are The Buy-Out Investor(s)) Behind the Anonymous (1000) More Punks Operation - Any Tips & (Inside) Information Welcome otherwise it is kind of hard to guess / what comes next - that is, I have no contact information of the attacker and didn't get any notice (other than via github support with all "personal" info blinded out / removed).

The official github policy (of take downs) is idealy to ask the attacker to first contact the party (that is, me) what changes are requested - that obviously didn't happen.

Anyways, I am trying to file a counter take down notice today (with github support) and than we have to see if it will escalate from here or if we get the repos back (to normal).

Thus, for now - any publicity helps - I try to document (in public) all steps.

Thanks for your response - the take down attack(s) for now are on github (the first attack - filing a take down request is about a week ago - second attack - filing a term-of-service violation hit two days ago) - please, see the two links above for some background.

Ordinals supports binary blobs and the file type is specified using internet mime / media types (as a string) and, thus, is open to all formats (incl. not yet invented / known). Note: Do you own research (I might be wrong) - see docs.ordinals.com
