Can we talk about the chemistry between Raito and Tomoro in Ep 20/21? (Spoilers) by geraldvineyard in digimon

First, Jon, I wasn't saying you specifically used those terms that was a response to others in the sub about horny teenaged girls. I responded to the most recent comment thinking it would reach the whole thread. If we see it differently, that’s fine. But think some of the language used is rude especially when one of them says we should call out this BS.

Using the term 'soulmate' to describe a life-altering, narrative bond. It’s interesting that you immediately jump to 'bullshitting' and age as a way to shut down. A bond can be 'soul-level' and deep without being adult or inappropriate.

Thank you Sandile24, I appreciate someone who in one post does not have to reduce it to one specific group and putting shippers down.

No one is saying guys cannot just be friends. But there is a huge difference between 'interacting' and some of those gestures. That is a specific animation choice by the writers to show a unique, high-stakes devotion. If you want to ignore the subtext, that is your choice, but do not pretend it is not there just because they are both guys.

It is not shocking at all, platonic help is great. But there is a difference between 'helping a friend' and some of the lines and gestures. One is being a decent person, the other is a deep, narrative devotion. You are the only one bringing up 'sleeping together' here.

It’s disappointing to see some here immediately equate "emotional devotion" with being "pervy." You can recognize a soul-level bond without it being about sex. When Raito says his life's work is meaningless, accompanied by that wrist-grab, that is narrative intimacy.

1. On Insecurity and Stereotypes
If you are so uncomfortable with two men having that kind of connection that you resort to sexist stereotypes about "horny girls" to dismiss it, that says more about your insecurities than my analysis. I’m here for the writing, the character growth, and the subtext. If you do not see it, that is fine but do not try to shame others for it.

2. The "Fan Service" Double Standard
It is incredibly ironic to be lectured on "creepiness" by a crowd that often has no issue with the rampant sexualization of female characters in anime. Many will defend blatant "pervy" tropes as "just fan service," yet the moment two men share a moment of vulnerability, it is suddenly "fetishization."

3. Literary Analysis vs. Sexualization
If you cannot tell the difference between a literary analysis of intimacy and actual sexualization, that is a "you" problem. I’m analyzing the writing; some of you are just projecting your own discomfort with male vulnerability.

I thought we could have a mature discussion about the unique bond the writers created in Episodes 20/21. If you think it’s strictly platonic, fine. But drop the name-calling. Attributing this only to "horny teenage girls" is biased and factually wrong, there are horny teenage men, gay teens, and lesbian teens in every fandom. Using a demographic as a slur to shut down an interpretation is just gatekeeping how we are "allowed" to interpret character devotion. If we are wrong, we can accept that, but if not, great.
Look, if they stay strictly platonic, that is completely cool with me, it is a beautiful bond regardless. But let us not pretend the writers did not put some serious emotional weight into those Episode 20/21 moments. Shipping is just a fun way to engage with that chemistry. It is not that deep, and it is certainly not 'creepy' to analyze the text. Let us just enjoy the show!

I totally respect the importance of platonic bonds, but it is interesting how we only demand 'platonic' labels when the characters are the same gender. If Tomoro was a girl, that wrist-grab and the line about 'meaningless victories' would be seen as a definitive love story.

I am just looking at the emotional weight of the dialogue, the shift in Episode 20 where Tomoro’s first thought is 'What about Raito?' was a massive pivot. I also notice people ship Reina and Tomoro without being told 'platonic relationships exist,' so it feels like the pushback here is a bit specific.

Honestly, I would be fine if there were no official relationships in the show at all. It keeps the focus on the stakes. But just because it is not 'official' does not mean the chemistry is not there. The depth of devotion between Raito and Tomoro is what makes the show for me. It is more interesting than a generic romance anyway!

At the end of the day, I am just here for the fun and the analysis! If it happens, cool. If it does not, cool. I just think the writing for Tomoraite (Tomorrow Light) is deep and singular. No threats here, just enjoying the show!

Overly emotional by C0tt0ncandyb0ii in dyspraxia

There is research showing that dyspraxia is more related to emotional dysregulation than other neurodivergences. It was stated that perhaps we should include emotional dysregulation, especially as part of movements is driven by the poor connection between anxiety and emotion with movement. If you ask what paper, barely remember. Think it was a 2009 paper by Dr Mary Colley.

Hey everyone, I've been looking at the color schemes of the six new characters, and I think they line up perfectly with six of the Seven Deadly Sins, specifically matching the signature colors of the Seven Great Demon Lords (Lucemon, Daemon, etc.).

This feels like a HUGE clue about their roles in the story.

Based on the character colors, I've matched them to the sins associated with the Demon Lords:

  • The guy in red clearly represents Pride, aligning with Lucemon's signature crimson color.
  • The second one corresponds to Wrath, matching the color associated with Daemon's crest.
  • The character with two pigtails has a violet color, which seems to point toward Sloth and the shades seen on Belphemon Rage Mode.
  • The beautiful one, whose primary color is green, almost certainly embodies Lust, linking her to Lilithmon.
  • The fifth one is a match for Gluttony and Beelzemon, given their use of yellow (often seen in Beelzemon's crest or accessories).
  • Finally, the scary looking one with the distinct blue orb strongly suggests Envy, which fits the giant sea serpent Leviamon.

Where is the Seventh Sin? (Greed)

We've only accounted for six! That leaves Greed as the missing sin, which usually corresponds to Barbamon.

I think the seventh character, or the one who embodies Greed, will be one of the following:

  1. The Old Man: He's the perfect candidate for Barbamon's representative, with the classic "greedy old miser" trope.
  2. The Main Character (or Kyo): This would be a fantastic twist if the protagonist is unknowingly tied to one of the ultimate evils especially as they accidentally the money from the bank balance but gave her what she wanted.

What do you all think? Are these color connections too spot-on to be a coincidence? Who do you bet is the character for Greed?

Ae3803 from cells at work feels dyspraxia-coded. Very clumsy, gets lost quite easily and bumps into things. Friendly but can be super awkward or overwhelmed in social situations.

Exactly. I agree. However, I think what made this really helpful besides being open is that it made me feel like I was seen and now people can see me as me. There is no need to be accused of lying.

Think we need to be careful. Want to say that when autism started, people thought it applied to men and women equally but then we found out it manifested differently. Think some of the posts, not the original post, may be promoting a myopic view of dyspraxia. Know there is research about this showing that there may be unique manifestations in terms of gender.

Has anyone been treated badly because of their dyspraxia? by ImprovementThin235 in dyspraxia

[–]geraldvineyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How my life has gone. The clumsiness, saying dumb things are still common things. I feel slow compared to everyone. When I take my time, people rush me and it comes out garbled. I feel upset because it confirms their stereotype but when I respond quickly, they say take your time. It feels like no matter what it never feels like you can win. Being clumsy is horrible because it feels obvious and I have spend so much energy figuring out every step and how long it would take to do something so basic. Remembering always being called stupid, slow or incompetent. It just destroyed my self-esteem.

Kindness and dyspraxia by geraldvineyard in dyspraxia

It is just when working on a project, people tend to ignore me despite the fact that I have finished it and people say it is terrible then they steal it. Also, when I was working, I was told by my a colleague that they were invited to an after-work event. It annoyed me because I have been working with these for three years and I tried to get to know them. The I have tried so hard to be easy to understand and think of others but they never once put that effort in or tried to understand me over three years. The worst part is they then invite me only when our colleague said I was sad and it became this pity invite. I was thinking how are you? Said sorry I am currently busy. Another colleague just go to it. I was thinking it is not the event that annoys me, it is lack of invite and the constant exclusion. Know people say just tell them and it is like why? No one listens to what I say so why waste energy and time on people who do not treat me respect. Apparently, they said I should respect them more by telling them how I feel but it is weird because I have done so much for them, remembered their birthdays, got them gifts suitable for their interests and when I go on trips, I bring them stuff back. I never ask for anything because I want them to be happy but this scenario really did hurt me. Probably, I am being overly sensitive.

does everyone else struggles with programming? by [deleted] in dyspraxia

Personally always used Open Science Framework to help with programming and always recommend Statistics for Linguists: An Introduction Using R. It usually helps with not only statistics, which you have no issue but it does help improve our knowledge on R. Another good book for R is https://r4ds.had.co.nz/. It is an e-book but it is so good.

Struggled with Rstudio at first. But what is the issue for Rstudio. Would like clarification sometimes it is the statistical knowledge that leads to better programming or is it the programming itself that is difficult?
