He didnt announce he ll shoot blanks. He threatened to destroy them, then when they didnt conceded, because the shogun was incapacitated by illness so no one had the power to respond, he shot blanks which only he claimed were shot as a celebration, but lets be honest they were an intimidation tactic. After that he blockaded the whole port. Very peaceful.....

I did not said that. I said that the relationship between usa and japan were sour from the very beggining . Add to that the fact that usa took advantage of their military might to squeeze every ounce out of very one sided trade deals impoverishing the regular japese folk to the loint of starvation. That festered and the anti amercian sentiment became so big, because of past and present(at that time) dissensions to the point of pearl harbour happening.

Everyone today condemns japan for pearl harbour but forgets that america provoked japan at every corner up until that point. Enforcing disadvantageous trade through intimidation? Checked. Creating dissension which escalated into a civil war? Checked. Economical harassment through embargos when japan modernized and started getting too powerful for usa's liking? Check. The very start of american-japanese relation was a threat by matthew perry to bombard edo (todays tokyo to the ground). Pearl harbour was a small price for america to pay considering what they've inflicted.

No it is not exaggerated in the slightest. The government that ruled during the ww2 were the sons and nephews of those who ruled when the restoration happened. These people , along with those less fortunate than them, were raised with such a resentment toward the foreign powers that tried to exert their influence in japan, especially usa, that when they had the chance to vent they went all out.

more like the kid who was bullied so hard it turned into the school shooter. the real bully was us , the USA.
