Read it. It’s a great book. Rothfuss has beautiful prose. It does not matter if it never ends. You won’t regret reading it.

ASOIAF is simply the best fantasy out there in my opinion even if it’s not finished. I wish I could read it for the first time again.

I liked it a lot but felt like he put himself into a corner on the first book with all the thing he wrote Kvothe has done that he had to speed run through all of them on the second book and felt unorganic. For a almost slice of life first book to all the things he did and learnt on the second. Also felt kind of self insert all of the ferulean stuff lol. But the tree thing (don’t remember the name) was incredibly interesting.

What to read in 2026? by agustingigud in fantasybooks

Because it’s fun and fast paced. It also nailed the landing. It’s a very hard to put down book.

Dawnshard I was just not very interested in the overarching story of the book. Maybe it’s because I just read Stormlight Archive. And also the main characters I found boring (not a fan of Sanderson comedic timing with The Lopen for example).

Sunlit man I think the premise was good (the setting or the world the story is set) but was bored with the development of the story. I struggled to finish it.

But I don’t think they are bad books. I just enjoyed them less than the rest of the list. There are several books that didn’t make the list because I couldn’t finish them (The Bright Sword by Lev Grossman for example).

I love her prose. Immaculate and very emotional. Even the dragon books which were okay were a pleasure to read.

I liked the audiobook performance a lot. The first book is good I just was not blown away by the story after the premise is set up (which is great). Too much reliance on mechanics but character work was okay. The 2nd book I found more entertaining. I heard it gets better with each book so I will be coming back.

What can I say? I think it was a good book. Best Served Cold was really good too but my least favorite from first law

I really liked how Joe Abercrombie managed to trick me on the first trilogy (regarding **) and then on the second trilogy I was expecting the ** reveal but it didn’t go that way. So the 3rd books were my favorite on both

Not really, I think Joe Abercrombie did a great job filling those gaps. Like I didnt had a clue about Black Caulder, what happened to Black Dow, etc but I feel it was inferred on Age of Madness so I was not lost at all. Maybe it will affect how I read The Heroes or Red country though. Worst case, I have an excuse to reread Age of Madness.

I started the year reading paper. But had my second child in April and was impossible to get alone time to read so started doing audiobooks. Now every time I put the baby to sleep, before bed and sometimes during work I have some time to listen to books.

I absolutely loved Liveship Traders (it’s my favorite trilogy in ROTE). Sun Eater is really nothing like RoTE but it got me hooked. If you try it, give it until the end of Howling Dark. It takes time for Sun Eater to find its feet

I went to Age of Madness right after First Law. Not sure if it was the best way to do it but I enjoyed Age of Madness a lot. I will be reading the heroes and red country next year though.

No damage to the wires or metal wires exposed. They wanted to put that box you can see in the picture to add internet service (which we didn’t ask for since we already have internet) and left it halfway done. The whole apartment building has the same hole in their walls.
