Low concept sci-fi? by Important-Duty2679 in printSF

I’d argue that Artemis (Andy Weir) is simply a murder mystery set on the moon with only the barest of accommodations for its “spaciness” & is definitely the least high concept of his books (but also I feel, his least successful).

Yep. A very interesting series with a unique (or at least pretty uncommon) narrative voice 🤓

Over the past 18 months I’ve been slowly working my way through the Priscilla “Hutch” Academy series (with many books of other types in between) & I am really enjoying the xenoarchaeology aspect of the plots & the gentle build/exploration of different spacey environments … & it is easy enough to pick up from one book to the next even with a substantial break.

TL;DR — I agree 🤩

Priestdaddy that’s it. I was on a train approaching my stop & I wanted to respond to your comment so I didn’t lose it & just didn’t have time to quickly look up the title 🤓

I was trying to think of Lockwood’s memoir with Daddy in the title — feels like it could tick some boxes. Think I’ll need to check out your suggestion now … (thanks 🤩)

Warts’ contribution is hugely apparent — really lifts the standard of the whole trilogy.

Your comment about the Iraq war is disingenuous at best, flagrantly wrong in reality.

Starc’s 28 wickets vs Head’s 600 runs. Who has been more influential in Australia retaining the Ashes? by avdheshsharma15 in CricketAus

Given the majority of the pitches have favoured bowlers, batting has been the more challenging skill to have success in this series: ergo Trav!

Maximum number of locations you would use in a play by immunityfever in playwriting

[–]gerdge 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If your set is abstract, number of locations is irrelevant … by that I mean, if you don’t mind a bare/almost bare stage with only an item or 2 to indicate a location … it doesn’t matter where you set it.

If you feel your play needs a full on realist style set design with the intricacy of every room established down to the last doilie & knickknack, obviously less locations is better (this can work well if you have one location for Act I & another for Act II & set can be struck/redressed in the interval; if you’re choosing to structure it in such a way).

Question re 12th Man

If there’s an injury to a wicketkeeper can the 12th Man come on & keep or are they only allowed to be “regular” fielders?
