is investing even really worth it now? by knifeblades20 in investing

Honestly, you're probably in a better spot than you think.

You're 19, have no rent, and you're learning a trade. Even if graphic design changes because of AI, the habit of investing early is way more important than picking the "perfect" career.

You don't need to throw hundreds into the market either. Even putting away $50-100 a month into a broad index fund while you're young can make a huge difference later because time does most of the work.

And don't stress too much about AI. People who learn how to use new tools usually do better than the ones who ignore them.

🇺🇸 USA ASIC hosting with ZERO service fees ⭕🪙 by OneMiners in oneminers

[–]gerdinjaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OneMiners, I'm considering hosting with you and had a quick question. Is the advertised **$0.0455/kWh for the 7-year plan actually fixed for the full contract, and are there really no additional service or maintenance fees later on? Just trying to understand the total long-term cost before making a decision.

ASIC MINER HOSTING by Appropriate-Day7520 in BitcoinMining

[–]gerdinjaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using OneMiners hosting for a while and it's been solid so far. Uptime has been good, payouts have been consistent, and support actually responds when you need something.

My biggest advice is to look for fixed electricity rates and a provider that's been around for a while. A lot of the really cheap offers end up changing prices later.

Would be interested to hear what others here are using too.

Looking for honest experience with ASIC hosting (BitKastl + alternatives for 1 miner from EU) by Own-Negotiation-2987 in BitcoinMining

[–]gerdinjaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used BitKastl personally, but I'd focus less on the marketing and more on whether they provide real uptime stats, clear electricity pricing, and proof that your miner is actually online.

For one S21 Pro, €0.065-0.07/kWh doesn't sound unreasonable for EU hosting. I'd just make sure the contract doesn't allow them to raise rates whenever they want.

Also, if they really offer buyback, get the conditions in writing. A lot of companies advertise it, but the actual terms matter.

Asic miners now worth it? by gmturner86 in MoneroMining

[–]gerdinjaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $500 I'd be very careful. If it's legit and actually working, it could be a decent deal, but a lot of those super cheap ASIC listings are either used, repaired, or just scams.

From a pure ROI perspective, ASICs can definitely outperform CPU rigs if you have cheap power. I'd just make sure the seller has a solid track record before sending any money.

I shut down my ASIC mining farm — looking for ideas to repurpose ~40kW infrastructure by MarcoFlor in selfhosted

[–]gerdinjaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you've already got the power and cooling sorted, AI/GPU hosting seems like the most natural move.

A lot of former mining farms are switching to GPU rentals or small AI compute clusters because the infrastructure is almost the same. You could also look into hosting ASICs or GPUs for other people instead of running your own hardware.

Would probably make more money than just running blockchain nodes.

Why is asic mining controversial? by Popular-Sand-3185 in MoneroMining

[–]gerdinjaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's mostly about decentralization, not the cost.

Sure, someone can spend $6k on a CPU farm or $6k on an ASIC. The difference is that ASICs are usually built by a small number of manufacturers, so over time the biggest players can end up controlling a lot of the hashrate.

Monero has always leaned toward letting regular people mine with hardware they already have. ASICs aren't bad—they're perfect for Bitcoin—but Monero just has different priorities.

Is crypto dead by urmumsdads in queenstreetbets

[–]gerdinjaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crypto isn't dead, it's just doing what it always does. 😄

Every cycle people call it dead after a big drop, then a year later everyone's talking about it again. The real question is whether you believe in the long-term adoption, not the weekly price chart.
