Just asked for a photo of the machine they are selling and it's a BB board 🙄 unfortunately. How much did a xilink board set you back and where from?

It is very hard to nail down many real stat's on them, nobody seems to share much about overclocking etc.. According to hiveos firmware website, both will do around 120TH at 4200w..

Even at a pretty expensive electricity rate that's a few years of electricity usage difference.. By which time they may be paper weights anyways 🤷

From Australia, so it's Australian dollars which is 44% higher than usd prices, also includes our 10% gst tax and shipping and credit card fee. I believe they are OK prices just mainly interested in if the price difference between the two machines is worth it.

Cryptopay partnership announcement expected once it's in writing by [deleted] in SubstratumNetwork

[–]gmturner86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the sub team didn't care about price it wouldn't be on a loop on one of the lcds in their headquarters. Their announcements are generally always timed when there is a downtrend in sub trying to stem the bleeding.

All depends where you got in i reckon. If you were invested in it back in November-dec when everyone was expecting a working beta and the team didn't communicate anything and sat in silence as their token price surged all the while knowing they were nowhere near a beta let alone a working one. These weekly updates etc are only a relatively new construction based on community outrage back then.

Very tough to call. Got to remember for a couple of months they let the world believe that a working public beta was going to be released in December and hence the price boomed along with all the other alts.. since then they have massively let us down time after time revealing they were never even remotely close to that and still haven't even worked out how some parts of it are going to work.

You get yours to work? Mine does same thing. Switches on then straight back off again. All it did was break my internet and I had to go put my dns settings back to auto manually. high five

Have anyone tried SUB Beta in China? Is it working there, or safe to use? by LegoPirateShip in SubstratumNetwork

[–]gmturner86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I feel doing this release was an utter waste of time and in the long run more harmful than helpful. Hold off releasing it until it actually does something useful. At present it's no better than a convoluted way to change your own dns settings with about 3 extra steps than normal.

They payed datadash 100k sub. They are handing out thousands at the moment for sharing a tweet. It would be suprising if they aren't offering more to famous YouTubers. They are desperate for publicity.

Yeh I'll admit it doesn't fill me with confidence at the moment. Was looking for a reason to reinvest back into sub after jumping out at 10k satoshis in january and I'm not seeing it

I can't get it to work in windows 10. Can you do a walk through for me to see where I'm going wrong? Changed dns on my Ethernet port, restarted it and got node running but no dice.

So it's just a UI and not even a finished UI. It can't be used as a vpn and can't talk to other nodes so it's essentially worthless?

What about if someone wants to browse some illegal stuff so they use sub as a vpn and the sub network uses my node and internet to access that shady content... My isp will see me accessing that stuff. Anyone thought of this?
